the strap button is probaly on the neck block or heel, which is a common spot for explorers and some vee's.

some necks have a different style of inlay at the 12th fret, you can lower your string height at the bridge, if not, then you will have to recess the bridge into the body (routing the body so the bridge sits lower into it)

What do you mean by the body having a round curve instead of sharp? do you mean the radius, or the actual body shape?

i re read your first post, and you were wondering about the construction.

When i had mine apart, the neck pocket was very neat and tight fitting, the pickup routes where a little shoddy in 2 spots (just looks like the route slipped a little) and same with the wire channel, it had a slight router slippage in it, but its covered by the pickgaurd, which is fine by me.

For the price (i paid about 300 canadain for mine) I really, really like it, I plan to add a nice set of black grover tuners with a black TOM and black pickgaurd, just to be a bit different.

As Haggardguy said, I have one, its an Explorer style, heres what I have to say about it:

I like it, the stock pickups in it were not that crisp, but I replaced them with Seymour Duncan 59's , and it sounds pretty good now.

Mine is a Mahogany Body with a 2 peice maple neck, rosewood FB, 24.75 scale, TOM bridge, blah blah blah, heres a few links of the pics:

take a look around in hock shops and a large variety of guitar stores and such, sometimes, you can find an older amp for a good price.

Try looking into an older Marshall, or even a Fender, they both sound great (depending on models, and the model names are evading me at the moment) and sometimes you can pick them up real cheap.

If you can find one, I highley recommend a Seymour Duncan amp, I almost bought one, but when i went back to the store with the money, it was gone, it sounded great with twin 12 inch speakers, built in overdrive, reverb and a few other little stuff, and it sounded awesome!

Nice lookin guitar, I aggree with Maiden, it looks a little too bulky, but once the bevels are on it, I am sure it will look great :

As far as the finish, heck, if it where mine, I would go black bevels, that fade into a transparent green (so when you get about 3/4 of the way to the different wood, it is fully transparent green, and its the same on the other side)

I found most of Jiboom to be pretty simple, although i cannot play all of it, I am still working on it, its a simple riff, with some pinch harmonics, although he uses trem, i just used wah to kinda get the sound (still off, but, close enough for this struggling guitarist)

well, you could still do it, kinda.

Strip the body, annd pretty much, saw it in half, cut out the peices you dont need, plane the edges on jointer.

Take your bolt on neck, and you can either

1) laminate a peice of maple, or whatever your neck is, onto your exsiting neck heel, make sure its planed and such,

2) make a new neck (probaly the BEST thing to do)

Hey,

I had a Lyon by Washburn Strat, i loved the thing to peices, it was a pretty versatile guitar, and being made out of cheap plywood with cheap single coils, it sounded pretty good.

Be sure to post some pictures, helps bring back the meomaries

Thats the grain sealer.

Whenever i finish a wood, with tung oil, or any stain, i sand WAY more then just 220, i go up to 600 grit.

You need to sand through the grain sealer first, then progressivly increase in grit.

I want to add a cab to my peavey bandit 112. Is this possible, if so, do I need to run a pre amp, if so, what one.

Has anyone added a cab to a combo amp, if so, did you notice a big difference?

What type of contest should it be? I am thinking a 2x4 special, its cheap, fun, and best of all, if you screw up, you can always use it for something else (that addition to your house for example )

This mini contest will start on feb 1. and it will go for 2 weeks, all entries must be submitted within that 2 week build time.
