  1. Got an RG body made of Swamp Ash. I wanted to know what your thoughts were. Never mind looks guys. I'm looking for... Q: Should I get the JEM Handle hole put on it? Or not? Q: Will the hole disturb the tone of the nice wood? Or not? Thanks! [Rick500: There ya go, poll added. ]
  2. <---36 year old 80's Metal Head. Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax & Slayer. Metal up your ass!!
  3. Maybe he just needed a rest from the eight months of calls, emails, etc etc etc?
  4. Patrick didn't die. he did have a brain tumor removed however. it put him out if commission for a while though. he posts on jemsite regularly, and is catching up on work. maybe try jemsite... I heard he had a brain tumor and it was bi-nine. Thank God! He seems like a real cool guy. I've been talking with him for like 8 months now. I was real concerned about him. I mean no answer to phone. No answer to e-mail. My mind wondered how he was doing. And I thought the worst thoughts about his health. I'm so glad he is doing fine. Thanks for the update. REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!!
  5. What happened to Sims Custom shop? Did Patrick Sims Die or something? I have been trying to get a hold of someone there for about a month now. I left some e-mails. I've called countless times. Still nothing. Has anyone heard anything?
  6. I am currently waiting for parts to come in for my first project a custom Ibanez JEM. I got the Prestige RG 2570 neck off eBay. I git it in and it's immaculate. Strait and very nice. I am waiting for the body to be shipped. Then the Ibanez Lo-Pro tremolo to be shipped. Then the Pickups, knobs , and then the final assembly. Can't wait! I don't have a guitar as of yet. I had to sell my old one to help my parents with rent many years ago. And I've been dreaming and asking a **** load of questions so that I may know what to dream of next. I've got big dreams ahead, so you all will hear of my projects and see my many pictures. Well hope you enjoy what I offer (which is not much) to the forums. Text below said it all. GO OUTSIDE!!! And have fun. ROCK ON!!
  7. Talked to Ed Roman just yesterday. I called to ask about a marble like paint job on my project JEM. Anyway what he said was that he has been booted out by his investors or something like that. He's been out of it since January. And the investors didn't want the business anymore. So they (not him) decided to sell the company and the building. Screwing him out of the game. And selling all there stuff. Which what I'm told is a **** load of guitars. Ed is not out of the game totally. He said he will end up owning (not renting) a building this time. And employing 10-15 people (not 70+). And doing what he does on his own terms. You may be asking yourself, "He's promoting Ed Roman guitars" or "He supports what is or what was going on". True answer to that is I don't know the man much at all, just talked to him for the quote on the paint job. He told me this info. I'm just passing what he said on to all of you. Just FYI.
  8. cant get those links to work but theres 1 here. http://www.otheroom.com/namm01/images/guitars/roscoe1.jpg Kinda. This looks a little more like granite. Not quite what I'm looking for. Ed's is what I'm talking about. But Ed's custom shop is gone. Ed's has lost there lease on the building. At least that's what I heard from some employee at Ed's.
  9. I was thinking of this kind of swirl before. I may even go back to this idea. Looks so cool to me.
  10. I just called Ed Roman's and the guy I talked to said that Ed's was relocating or something. It seems Ed lost his lease on the building or something and who knows where he will end up next. What I did hear is that he will continue to do guitars and stuff but from where God only knows.
  11. This is what I'm talking about. Except not green. Dark Brown and copper. Other than Ed Roman, can anyone else do this one? I called Ed and was quoted ~$1500 to do the job. NO Funking way am I interested in spending $1500 for a paint job. WOW!!!
  12. OMG that's what I'm talking about! Look at that! It looks just like marble. OOH SWEET!
  13. Oh do you mean the flake separating from the color itself before it drys. Well I've got small kids and they use this flake glue type pen **** (MY GOD it gets all over everything ). Couldn't it be done in the same kind of way. What if the color had a slight liquid adhesive added to it. then the flake added to the color/adhesive as one of the colors. I'm not asking for a lot of flakes in the paint. I just want a "shimmer" effect to it. Like a marble counter top you might see at Lowe's or Home Depot. Next time you are there check out what I mean. The black and gold marble counter tops have streaks of gold "shimmer" to them. OMG would that look cool as a guitar body. YES!!!
  14. Who here knows how to swirl colors on a guitar body? Couldn't you use a clear as one of the colors of the swirl? Sounds logical to me. What do you say?
  15. Well if the flake was in the paint and then the lacquer clear coat was on top of the paint. Why would the flake separate from the paint? Or would it?
  16. I would hope so. If only I could find someone out there that can do it.
  17. Thanks everyone for there comments and input. I appreciate it very much.
  18. DiMarzio makes the Evolution Neck in an F-Spaced version.
  19. The answer to your question is "yes." In other words, last I heard a Floyd Rose is Fender-spaced, so you'd need Fender-spaced pickups. (Or not. Back in the day, EVH tilted his bridge pickup to compensate for the bridge spacing.) Now I have a couple of questions: 1. Doesn't the Jem come with factory-installed DiMarzio pickups? 2. Why replace the Edge Pro with a FR Pro? 3. Is this really an Ibanez Jem? 4. How many is a couple? Answers: Q. 1. Doesn't the JEM come with factory-installed DiMarzio pickups? Yes it does. But I forgot to mention this is a custom JEM. Oops Q. 2. Why replace the Edge Pro with a FR Pro? Floyd Rose Pro (what I've read off this forum) stays in tune better. Plus (what I've read) FR lasts longer, and is better made. Just what I've read. Q. 3. Is this really an Ibanez JEM? No It's Custom
  20. Sounds a little like my Post. Hmmm I think I'm going to use inserts on my project JEM.
  21. I'm getting a Floyd Rose Pro installed on my JEM. And I am getting DiMarzio pickups. Question is do I need f-spaced pickups? Or standard spacing? I've read some posts on this subject. Tho they are opinions, some say Floyd Rose = F spaced pickups. When others say it does not matter. Does anyone REALLY know. Or what?
  22. If you really must go the Vintique route. I would get the neck plate only. The plates are $45 (Steep price if you ask me). And do the rest yourself. It's the same stuff. Hand polished screws are not worth that price.
