  3. i'm very much a newbie, but i have actually done this. my very first project was this warmoth parts guitar. i used alcohol based dye and then finished with tung oil. http://www.drezdin.com/warmoth.html
  4. i'm getting ready to do my first nitro finish (with cans). i live in the houston area which is very humid. what kind of humidity do i need to spray in for the finish to come out well? right now the humidity is like 80% any advice?
  5. i'm a total newbie here so forgive me if i ask some stupid questions. do i install the nut on my neck first and then finish it, or do i do the finish first and put the nut on later. this is going to be a bone nut. thanks

  7. daveq.... i'm a true newbie. could you you explain a little more or show a picture of the jig you used to drill the holes. i was plaining on drilling the holes with a drill press. wouldn't that be straight? i would had to screw up my necks. thanks

  9. hello, i'm new here and i've been checking out some of the awesome work by the members here. i'm building 2 guitars (from warmoth parts) soon and need some advice. i'm going to try to do a nitro finish on both guitar bodies, but i'm not sure about the back of the necks. i've done tung oil before and like the way it feels, but i've read that it is not very good for the neck. i've also read that nitro on a neck starts to feel stick after a while. so my question is, what kind of finish could i do on the back of the neck that will feel smooth and satin like and yet be stable for the neck? thanks p.s. i don't have a sprayer
