No, i cut them by hand on the bandsaw, then i rough flatten them on an edge sander. Then i use a short 8" fret leveler for the final flattening.

Scarfing day. I have to glue the highlight piece in 2 separate steps. 

I say ir very year, but I'm making a commitment to taking more in progress pics this year. But here is where we are at for now. 

Ive used veneer many times, 1/42" thick.
Advice i can give, do NOT use water based dyes or stain. It will delaminate.
One sand back is about max, stay away from corners and points most of all.

Paduak after that, then flame maple on the outside. Thanks, i loved the way this neck looks. I want to do more combos like this.

Compound is the last thing on the list. I havent tried it yet. I only use 2 radii currently, either 12 or 16. Both have shown the exact same outcome so far. Compound is on the list.

Yes, i have a guy here who used to work for the jackson custom shop (he actually invented the warrior shape)
Have had him doing the fretwork for me on all of these, and they still all have the same result.

Been a while since posted dome updates. Here are some finished guitars. 

Sprayed a lot of clear lately. Thr walnut explorer is pre level and buff. Sprayed very nicely 

Some color was added tofay. Really like the color scheme on th5r explorer.
