  1. Body started as a length of Ash from SLHardwoods, nice wood, a little too much wastage due to warping though. Routing was almost perfect until I took a chunk out of the lower horn. Its on the edge so hopefully by the time I round it over it should look a lot better.
  2. Thanks, yes its fully adjustable for different radius from about 4" and onwards. The legs of the jig have nuts welded inside the box steel into which I can screw in different length of bolts to further raise the jig from the floor.
  3. Sound great, thats got me inspired to try a sustainer in my next build
  4. Sorry heres where im at the now, some of the comments are from a while back. Truss rod channel routed into maple blank Last weekend I made myself a radius jig for my belt sander, tried it out yesterday and it produced a fairly decent radius, much better than all I've managed to get with blocks. However i set the thickness a little to thin and i may have ruined the fretboard, what do you guys think, how thin is too thin, its down to about 3-4mm at the edges. Decided to go with another thicker board. here it is glued on the neck ready for carving.
  5. This is my secound attempt at doing a scratch build, Specs Body : Ash Neck : Maple Fretboard : Rosewood NO. FRets : 21 Pickups : Wilkinson Gotoh Bridge : Wilkinson Gotoh adustable tele bridge vintage style Tuners : Gotoh Pickguard : Tortoise shell effect.

  8. "Do you have any specs for us on the rest of the build?" Body : Solid multi piece Beech kitchen worktop Neck : Maple Fretboard : Rosewood, undyed nice dark wood Tuners : Gotoh SGM left handed set Bridge : Wilkinson/Gotoh compensated vintage saddles Nut : Graphite Fender replacement. Truss rod : Single action, from CH guitars in the UK Thats about it, its worrying how fast the cost of all the stuff adds up! Rather than spend any more cash on this one, im going to start again with some better wood, there are a lot of issues with this one nothing major but still enougth to put me off putting some pickups in this one
  9. Well here she is almost finished, and playing a lot better than i thought it would, theres only a little fret buzz on the last five frets of the fith string, the action is also a little on the high side.
  10. On mine the actuall jacks are for stereo output but there both wired for mono, so you only need mono.
  11. Blowing my own trumpet, here is my online shop, Http://www.armstrongguitars.co.uk Started this shop up about two years ago to keep myself out of debt during University, its been growing slowly hopefully some parts may be of intrest. I should have some stocks of guitar body blanks in soon Cheers Gav
  12. To be honest all my leads are at my friends house bar the two i have at the house the now so i havent tested it properly yet. It works fine switching between amp and the empty socket with no pop, but this might not be the case when connected to two amps. il let you know when i test it out properly. I would rarely need to switch amps mid song so i guess it doesnt really matter. However an active circuit looper pedal would be a good project so i could switch between two different banks of effect pedals but somehow still having it conected to the same amp. Would this be possible?
  13. You can use this box to switch between one guitar and two amps, or use it between one amp and use the other channel for a tuner?
  14. What would be a good bit for using with a template to cut out the body of an electric. I recently bought one of ebay the only one i could find in the uk, its an inch long so i need to make a few passes to cut deep enough problem on of the blades sticks out futher than the acutal bearing so as i move it down i get a stepping in the wood. what is the standard bit i need to cut from a template is there a source in the uk. Cheers Gav

  16. Just like the trems there are the poor quailty korean/chinese ones built under licence, and the great Japanese built GOTOH ones also built under licence from wilkinson. The prices are worlds apart but so is the quailty, for example a humbucker may cost around ten pounds for a korean one and upwards of 40 pounds for a proper Gotoh one.
