  1. i LOVE my line 6 uber metal, because it has LOADS of distortion, and a really adjustable tone, and although it doesnt have much crunch it is still amazing for modern metal. if i want a really crunchy tone i just use amp distortion
  2. there must be some slight difference in tone and its much easyer to work with one peice of wood. and if your doing a nateral look it would probably look better unless the join is in the middle and stands out on purpose
  3. wow i thought most guitars were one peice. and zomg...blazing saddles fan
  4. just roll off the volume or use a volume pedal. unless theres something wrong with the preamp in the pickup and thats overdriving :/
  5. oo thats a great idea. if i can get it to work. i thought about masking off one side and that half the the swirl and painting it, then painting the other side and letting it bleed it wont be a complex swirl but it could work :/
  6. there isnt really a specific order, its just personal preference. but..if you have something with a noise supressor consider putting it last to soak up all the noise from the other pedals. i only use 2 FX atm, i have a dunlop cry baby wah into a line 6 uber metal, and i put the wah first just because it was heaver and wouldnt move around as much when i moved around, however after making a pedalboard i tryed them the other way around and i hated the sound that came out.
  7. depends on whos playing then i spose what about this one?
  8. that looks amazing! i want one defo go with blue green and black is awsome but the blue in the pic is just more awsome
  9. this is a my DT project that i made for my GCSE coursework the specifications were: it has to be battery powered, it had to be louder than an unplugged guitar, it much have volume and gain controls, it should be small enough to clip onto a belt, it should have an earphone out socket, it must be able to play clean and distorted. the finished prototype is powered by 4 9v batterys, it is just louder than an unplugged guitar, it has volume and gain controls it is just small enough to clip onto a belt however so far i havnt desined a way to do this. it has an earphone out socket, which automatically switches the power from the speaker. it is able to play distorted however i cannot get it to play clean, however my guitar has a much higher output than the one i origonally based the cuircuit design around. the amp has quite crunchy distortion, however it is easyly overloaded which creates a popping sound, i think i could solve this by using more expensive chips that can handle bigger voltages. it is also quite noisy while being played however when it is not it is completely silent. i have also found that it works extremly well for maiden riffs and rhythem parts. this is the curcuit layout, however i made a few small alterations as i was building it. Circuit Layout (PCB) and this is the finished amp The Amp the insides: the PCB Etc and the battery layout battery layout changes for the future: because the speaker is quite quiet, i am planning to remodel the circuit and repackage it as a distortion pedal. i am also going to look at ways to include a tone control, and try and reduce the noise. however i am going to try and keep the same body shape as it is extremly ridged and i think works quite well. if anyone has any ideas how i can add a tone control, boost the volume or add a noise reducer, input would be greatly appreciated!
  10. how about that iv seen a pic of that one actully being played this guitar was made for malmsteen, but he never went to collect it so they auctioned it off and finally the 4 necked guitar made for michael angelo batio
  11. often even if you dont use the 24th fret for fretting, it makes a brillient marker for the harmonic, and makes it much easyer to judge where the harmonics are off the fretboard. hardly anyone uses it but you can get some really nice harmonics in certain positions around the pickups. even if you dont use it much its a good lil trick to throw in at a gig
  12. i had this problem when i got a new guitar with EMGs, when i wanted to play clean i just roll the volume off slightly, or turn the gain down on my amp. another solution would be to use signal booster/reducer foot pedal, that could reduce the input into the amp, in the summer i am going to make a simple one out of wood. with high output pickups your going to overdrive an amp if you have it just under the "overdrive barrier" for low output pickups which alot of people do because you get the best tone there (well i do anyway) so just roll the gain off slightly sorry thats kinda long winded im not feeling too great and im not thinking clearly :/
  13. hmm i might try that. and yer thats pretty much what i wanted but parallel with the neck ill try it on cardboard first to see if it works
  14. it will probably be rattle cans, however i am looking for advice on what paint to use. i dont really mind what medium i use its the final effect thats important to me.
  15. its the switch under the pedal, so when you put the pedal at the top and lean down it swiches the wah on and off.
  16. iv had a dunlop crybaby wah since feb, and suddenly a few nights ago the switch under the pedal locked up tight, no matter what i do i cant move it... has this happend to anyone and what can i do about it?
  17. ahhh that might be why the trem on my ibanez isnt working properly :/ how can i mute the springs without stopping the trem working properly?
  18. look on the EMG site (or any other site for active bass pickup manifacturers) for their bass pickups, they generally have tech specs on it.
  19. i want to paint the top half of a guitar fluro pink and the bottom black with a swirl in the middle, is there a way to do this without marbiling? i was thinking of just painting one side black and the other pink, and while its still wet swirling the paint on the body with my fingers/a brush etc but i have no idea if that will work so..advice needed!
  20. im confused, how come all the thousands of strat, les paul and tele copys that small companys make are not illegal too?
  21. im thinking of painting an old superstrat body pink and black, fluro pink on the top half and black on the bottom and a swirl of the 2 in the middle. can anyone give me some advice on how to do this, what paint to use etc im a complete noob when it comes to painting but i want to start off with a challinge, if i just did a plain colour i would be sanding it down again by the summer to repaint it.
