how far along are you? what are you using to wind and how much of a hassle to do? ive always restarted, but my breaks have been silly thigns (unwinding 150 winds by hand to find where i went off the bobbin slightly, found it after way too long and put the wire on the ground due to lazyness, and then forget to make sure i wasnt standing on it when i started up again) it also depends on what the chances of you breaking it again are. i have to ask, what are the common winding specs for basses, im looking to make myself a bass when i get some time and finish my current guitar. what gauge wire do you use, what resistance and what type of magnets? are they similarly wound to guitars or do you use lower ohms to get a more even curve? do you use a lower gauge wire or just less turns? thanks

think of it this way. 10 to 1 on a linear will sound like you are changing it to half way of the total possible change, even if you just moved it 90% of the way (assuming the pot goes to 0) where the log/audio the half way will be percieved at 5 (middle of the rotation)

changing the tone pot value is doing the same thing as turning the pot down. the only difference is higher valued pots have a higher range. the value of the pot gives the highest resistance (full on) to things going to ground, so a 1 meg pot can effectively act as a 250k pot by getting it to the right level. because they are log pots that value will not be 3/4 of the way around. i dont know about the value of the vol pot effecting tone though, but its not meant to so i cant imagine it being a big difference. im not an expert, but i spoke to someone who knows alot about electronics and thats what he said.

Chrome/nickel Plated Bigsbys?

if you use a bigsby alot does it send the guitar out of tune? there would be some friction at the tunomatic bridge, and some more at the nut due to the angle from the headstock (i assume this is a lp or sg). im asing as i ahve an idea for a trem system and im curous how well it would work without replacing the tonomatic saddles and the nut with a graphite one or similar. thanks -
you can do a heel of any shape, length and location as you like. i am making an odd shaped heel which has the neck pickup inside it completely so i can make a guitar with no heel whatsoever, this is hidden under a pickguard.
