  1. I call my cheap Les Paul copy 'spam Paul'
  2. I'm thinking about keeping it natural, I don't think I've got the skills to do binding yet, altough I suppose there's only one way to learn
  3. I routed the neck pocket this evening, I did it freehand without a template but it came out quite nice The Kramer Imperial neck I'm using fits perfectly
  4. Thanks for the tip daveq that sounds like a very good idea
  5. Yep it fits but I still haven't finished it, it needs to go a bit deeper
  6. I want something to sand the areas that my bench mounted belt sander can't reach (i.e. inside the horns, curves etc) I realise a spindle sander is the ideal bit of kit for this but sadly I don't think my budget can stretch that far So I need some ideas for a cheaper method. I was thinking about a drill press with a drum sanding attachment? or maybe even a router table with a drum sander attached?? What do you guys reckon?
  7. Cheers, it's the first neck pocket I've ever done
  8. I brought it from a guy on Ebay, he builds Tele's... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...ssPageName=WDVW Altough after getting the Tonewood catalogue from www.craft-supplies.co.uk , I'll proberbly use them from now on Yes you're proberbly right however I'm not using templates for routing so it doesn't really matter It's not back breaking heavy but it's deffinetly not light either
  9. The USA Customs site only has Strat, Tele and Wolfgang designs I think, click on this link for more guitar models.... http://www.nymphusa.com/kisekae/kisekaee1.asp
  10. I'm sure it's Pirahna here's the back.....
  11. It's Piranha pine, which according to my supplier has a simular tone to Alder.
  12. Incase anyone was interested it was £23.90 including postage I've got another blank on the way, Alder with a Maple cap so this will be the prototype to give me some more pratice before letting loose on the more expensive wood.
  13. I finally got my body blank today! it's been slighty delayed due to my supplier sending me a Tele body As you can see I've scetched a rough outline on, hopefully I'll get time to cut it out later this week, and no I haven't cut myself the red streak is natural I think it looks nice for quite a cheap wood, can't wait to get started!
  14. Yeah it's just an illusion, the pic was taken at an angle, so it's not a prefect birds eye view The only other thing I suppose I could do is route the pickup cavity closer to the neck and fill the rest of the gap up
  15. Seeing as a I still can't find a suitable neck I've come up with an idea This neck fits perfectly but there's not enough over-hang on the fretboard and the gap between the bottom of the neck and the neck pickup looks too weird (to me anyway) ....so I've decided to fill the neck pickup and paint the guitar It's a shame seeing as I've spent hours waxing it but it's better than it sitting in the corner collecting dust. I've got a mate who works in a car accident repair centre so I'll see if he can paint it for me I was thinking White with gold hardware and a single EMG 81, what do ya reckon?
  16. Now I'm no expert on buffing guitars but I do run a small mail order business selling metal polishing kits mainly to bike trade. I would say that a grinder would be too fast for buffing guitars, but I've only polished metal so I could be wrong. PS: If anyone in the UK wants mops etc let me know
  17. I've only been able to use it for half an hour when I got it back this afternoon I had to rush off to pratice some acoustic songs with my singer, and now it's 2.30 in the morning (rehearsing at a pub is great ) It sounds awesome, I'll try and post some sound clips when I get time
  18. The other guitarist in my band has a 320, it's a nice guitar altough the trem isn't brilliant in my opinion, I'm a big fan of the Wizard 2 necks
  19. I decided to swap my JCM 900 combo for this little beauty...a Peavey Transfex 212s 24 bit Digital stereo FX processor, stereo Transtube power amp, midi programmable pre-amp, 128 user programs, 128 factory presets, RAM card slot for storing additional programs and presets, midi foot controller...the list goes on.... anyway here she is........
  20. I've just used Audacity and I'm quite happy with the results
  21. I tried Kristal, it was rubbish for what I wanted, the sound quality was terrible. I'll give Audacity a try later...thanks
  22. Thanks yeah it scared the hell outta me too!
