  1. Was wondering what size drill bit ya'll use to drill your holes for a Gotoh Tuneomatic bridge and tailpiece. I have tried, on scrap of course, a 7/16", too big, then a 3/8", too small, then a 13/32", still too small! Should I be looking metric? Or is there some secret?!

    Thanks

  2. I will have more than enough room on the posts, i believe, as long as it is alright to leave some of the threaded portion exposed underneath the bridge (5mm). My threads are 22mm (or so), and I need to come up 5mm. I think that i can leave then exposed...If this is not alright, then I can sink the 5mm plugs into the hole, but I gather that it is alright to leave some of the threaded portion exposed below the bridge, right?

    your a life saver!

  3. hello

Well, I am wondering if it is incorrect to place the tune o matic bridge about 5 mm up on the threaded posts as compared to flush to the bottom rim. It would appear that my neck angle is slightly off, and to achieve level string height above the board, I need the bridge to be roughly 16mm, not the 11mm that the bridge would be flush. My other option, I think, is to put a piece of wood under where the bridge will be to raise the height the necessary 5mm.

If you have any info on this, it would be greatly appreciated!

  4. no, its just a regular old solid body.

I am thinking that it may be too much neck angle also, but I still get 3 degrees when I measure it. It is confusing. the neck looks straight, maybe in need of a small rod adjustment.

do you know of any fixes for too much neck angle, if that be the case? I can't realy think of any. Trouble!

The measurement at the bridge is about 18 mm.

    Thanks for the help.

  5. Well

I was just wondering if anyone could shed some light on the height they have there tune o matic bridges at after final setup of there guitar.

I ran a test strring from a tuner in the peg head, over the nut (held in place), level over the fret board to the bridge area. At the bridge spot, I got a measurement of something like 20 mm. Seemed awfully high when I was thinking about it!

Need all ya'lls help b/c my bridge is delayed in shipping and I'm dying to know!

    Thanks

  6. Okay, so i gots me my tuners, and they have a little peg that sticks up on the side that comes into contact with the bottom of the pegboard. My question is, which way should I install these. With the peg into the wood towards the bottom of the guitar, or towards the top of the peg board... Basically I need to better understand what side of the peghead the tuners should go on...

I think I confused myself there! If any of you pros can understand me, thanks!

  7. Jehle

Was wondering what mini toggles you used for your guitar. I saw that there are on/on, on/on/on, and on/off/on. Does it make a difference what I use for the H/S/H setup. Again, I wish to be able to control which are on and off at given times!..

    thanks again!

  8. I want as uncluttered a look as possible. I really liked the look of the mini-toggle switches on Jehles project. In that, I want just one volume and one tone.

Is the wiring complex for your version Jehle? Also, could you guys go into detail about coil taps and phasing and series for the mini toggle switches?, i am confused on what these actually are!

    Again, mucho gracias!

  9. Okay, let me pick your brain for a second!

My project is gonna be a H/S/H guitar. I would like to have master tone control and volume control(s), along with pickup choice options. How would you set up the wiring, using the push/pull pots?

    thanks once more!

  10. Can you wire for a master tone knob for the entire guitar using the push/pull method, or are you restricted solely to volume control?

Is wiring with these push/pull pots more difficult or about the same as the standard way? I am concerned about difficulty b/c this is my first project!

    Thanks again

  11. A little confused here

My guitar is going to have a H/S/H configuration of pickups with a volume and tone knob. My issue is that the 5 way lever switches I have look at all require a caivity depth of 1 and 3/8" but my guitar is not deep enough to offer this depth in the cavity!

So i was wondering if there are any other options I can persue to wire three pickups. Will a 3 way switch work? Can I use mini toggle switches? Or do You all have any guidance for me that may help. I could always lose the middle single coil, but wish not to do that!

    Thanks for any help!

  12. Well, again confused!

I am ready to rout my pickup cavities. does this sound about right?

They are Seymour Duncan HB's, the jazz in the neck, then the #5 in the bridge, same dimensions....

I am gonna route the main area about 1/2" to 5/8" deep, then the side wings about 1" deep. I guess I am confused as to the depth I should make my routes. I just dont want to mess up!

Also, am I right to route both the bridge and neck to the same specs?

Again, all your help is appreciated muchly!

  13. Well, I was wondering today as I get ready to band saw my neck, how you all go about crafting the taper into the neck. My block is about 2 and 3/4 thick, and I need about 1 and 11/16 (or so, off the top of my head) at the nut. should I make this taper on the band saw, plane it to the right side, or sand it down to the right side? I feel that it might be tough to band saw it with out damaging the future peghead, I think...

This is my last real issue before i do it up! Thanks in advance

  14. Confused!

Well, just wondering if there is a uniform thickness required of a peghead so it can accept the tuner machines. I have copied the thickness from my Godin guitar, but am not sure that it will work for the sprezel tuners I am to use on my project. Basically, are all tuner measurements the same? I have not yet recieved the sprezel machines to verify measurements...

    thanks for the help!
