I deal mostly in solids but I've been toying with an archtop concept. What if , instead of bending the sides the traditional way I laminated the sides from veneer, gluing several layers together in a form to make super strong sides. I'd like some input from those of you who hane built hollow bodies before. Thanks guys.

KILO STRINGKILLA HERE. THE KEY TO SUSTAIN IS IN THE CHOICE OF WOODS. GOOD TONEWOOD EQUALS GOOD SOUND PROPERTIES. MAPLE MAHOGANY ALDER AND KORINA ARE AT THE TOP OF THE LIST. A TIGHT NECK JOINT WITH THESE WOODS EQUAL GTEAT SUSTAIN. ALSO MAPLE ALL THE WAY FOR THE NECK. THE OTHER ALTURNATIVE NECK WOOD IS DEFINATELY MAHOGANY. ALL STOCK FOR NECKS SHOULD BE QUARTER SAWN ANS ONLY QUARTER SAWN. I HOPE I'VE BEEN OF HELP.

look guys enough. I was and still am a great fan and user of Pauls but, they are the Lamborghini's of the guitar world . I have two and an SG Custom I can't gig without them.but when I want kikbutt blues tone it's my Strat I turn to. Truly the Volkwagen of the guitar world. Strurdy, cheap well built, and for everybody. If we can't live with the nitpicky flawslet's build our own custom tailored guitars. After all we build em don't we.

Question about bleaching wood

go to the local pharmacy and ask for OXALIC ACID a rather benign acid. It will take out all the color to white without any caustic or environmentaly unfriendly compounds. I've used for years , my hands pick up the color of mahogany, turns a shade of dark red, like dried blood. I wash my hands in it .
