  1. hey guys, my problem is...when i was given the S.D. hotrail pup, all the wires were gone. I mean nothing! what a headache, at least they were cleanly removed....anyhoo....can anyone give me some insight on rewiring it...and FYI i dont want any coil taping, splitting etc...just a straight pup! thanx !!!!!!!!!

  3. Where can i get a Spokeshave, and are there different kinds....and what is the most useful, etc....... thanks so much.... I have access to Home Depots and Lowes, and a few mom and pop type places...... gots to love KY! thanx

  5. i personally would suggest a maple or mahogany. And for pickups,....wilkenson bridge tele in the middle pos. and S. Duncans or Dimarzio in the bridge and neck pos. just my two cents
  6. depends on what kind of look and sound and feel your going for...I like all types, but i play a variety of styles of music....are you going to paint it, stain it etc>?

  9. i wonder if you could use pieces of aluminum or copper or any metal you can get really thin???? just a thought. Solder would be cool....can it be sanded?

Klean-Strip Antique Stripper has given me the best luck....i stripped close to 20 bodies with it....some it would eat all the way down too the wood...others it would take the clear coat and color off well, and then i power sand the top and back and hand sand the sides. hope that helps ya...i use the spray can version.
  11. reminds me of an ibanez...but alot of the ibanez basses are not wood if im correct....please someone correct me if im wrong....i think the ergodyne series is a composite powder thingy.
  12. From the looks of the body, which is great looking, you do not need to fill any grain! If I understand correctly you only need grain filler and/or wood filler on deep gashes or abnormalities in the wood. Hope you project goes well!!! BJ

  15. I had great luck stripping a tung-oil finish with Acetone and 000 and 0000 Steel Wool. I was satisfied after about an hour of rotating between the two. And Brian i am off tour for the winter bj

  19. I had a friend come to me with an active jazz bass pickup...i need to figure out how to wire it into a L P style guitar..i told him it would sound different ,.,,,but that is what he wants. Any help about this is greatly appreciated. thanx BJ
  20. I can't seem to get the bass to except an oil based stain do I need to use a water based stain or an oil based stain in combination with something else. There is no clear coat, the bare wood has only been waxed....please help
