  1. i never have any hardware..but i build most of mine so i know where it would be...
  2. i did a few searches and came up with three suppliers of colored laminations however 1 of them caters mostly to gunstock sized blanks http://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/store/Tu...ed_Blanks?Args= http://www.rifle-stocks.com/laminated_blanks.htm http://www.rutply.com/products/index.html just thought i would throw it out there if i were curious about making my own laminations how would one impregnate epoxy into the wood..since this seems to be the commonly accepted method of doing it...
  3. i feel like a shmuck...i couldnt find 60 bucks...hahaha however if i could just sell some sand dollars....
  4. ~looks in wallet for 60 bucks~ i want the "woody" looking one
  5. the red is a nice accent, subtle..at first i thought it was an accident though Kenny
  6. KP ive been following this thread, and never had anything to contribute until now... GET THOSE DARN PICS UP ALREADY WILLYEA? hehe, no pressure though, just all us folks waiting to see how it looks!
  7. i wouldnt like the horns on any other guitar; but i think the accents of the laminations make this one look stunning...i had a build that had a similar lamination plan..but with bubinga i never got around to doing anything but maybe thats why i like this build so much
  8. i think you have a lot of potential; not many people can pick up an idea like guitar building and churn out something like what you have done although there just a lot of things only practice can teach us this is really great. i am concerned about the headstock though; it seems the bushings for the tuners are most likely going to be partially over the carve. just keep it up man this is beautiful
  9. Mojoman thanks! i really appreciate that; i love just building with my hands; regardless of the medium however i think WAS is contagious; i was comissioned to do a frame for a peice that is being displayed in Milan and i invited the guy who comissioned me to come along and put some input as to the woodchoice 2 lumberyards later and 200 dollars down we got the wood for the frame...he bought enough for 2 hahaha
  10. i am a severe case of W.A.S wood aquasition syndrome its terrible; ive spent 1000's on wood so far....
  11. that ones so cool! i love bright colors! yea contrasting scarfjoints look much more intresting than just a regular scarfl; imho
  12. gosh thats terrible that happened Erik! its aways a horrible feeling seeing all your hard word sitting in more than one piece its good that you were able to further expand your knowledge Kenny
  13. thanks Dave! Erik; to fill the pores do you reccomend a thick first coat? or just like applying poly
  14. i dont remember how thick the original peice on the Sol build i did was that i used to scarf, however the veneer was about 1/8" the final headstock thickness was 14mm on this build since i did a "reversed" scarf the peice i used was 2 inches, that set the scarf further into the neck, and allowed me to do a larger volute
  15. have some extra fretboard material behind the nut; you would still get the same effect you wanted but still have the nut in the correct spot just an idea
  16. i guess i should rename the thread "les paul in disguise" :-p i think tru oil is the concensus (and least expensive option!) i havent had much time to really do a lot of work though (even though i just need to make the bridge and route cavities then its ready for finishing) ive been busy on another commissioned work ill post more when i get some more done! and thanks for the feedback guys!
