  1. http://www.hurricanealley.net/images/06LALLMDL.gif see the main group of those lines? thats where im at
  2. that wood is nice nonetheless. but i think he photoshops his images alot. that pic is EXTREMELY contrast adjusted. helps bring out the grain alot more. but it wont be extreme of blacks when you get it in person. hmmm... kind of wrong when its a 200$ piece of wood huh?
  3. actually, thats the body and neck wood, it looks kind of like rosewood but its actually macassar ebony. the top will be bolivian rosewood, shown in the first page, the big piece.
  4. allright, wood is cut, glued tomm. . here are some pics: body paneling laid out for lam'ing. sucks cause i have to have 2 more boards just to get another 1" on each side for the width. ARRGGG. a bit of wasted wood but im gonna use it for odds and ends. see what i mean about the width. kinda sucks. neck, heel, and in-body joint mass woah, just cut with a circular saw this stuff gets smooth easy and is DARK. love it, hope the body when surface sanded and hand sanded with 1000+ almost get this dark.
  5. how do you "paint" it on? with a brush or by hand or what? at what grit sandpaper do you sand between coats? what is product called? thanks!
  6. only time ive seen people use epoxy in the neck is glueing in perm graphite rods. you have to remember epoxy is pretty permanent. id go with a normal wood glue, titebond should work. i dont know about that truss particular rod though so i *may* br wrong.
  7. www.warmoth.com will custom make you a neck, they also have alot in their 'showcase' section i think for not to bad prices.
  8. thats brush on lacquer right? not spray kind? how long do you have to wait between coats, how many coats did you use, and how long before hard enough to send out to buyer? thanks!
  9. very nice. ive never seen a 1piece flame maple body. looks GREAT. nice walnut to, what kind of finish is that on there?
  10. man none of that walnut is nice. blah. HERES some nice walnut http://www.ca-walnutdesigns.com/products/products.htm
  11. well, i went with this epoxy: http://www.lmii.com/CartTwo/thirdproducts....+All+Wood+Epoxy i cant afford with this expensive wood for it not to bond because its resinous. they said its great for woods like rosewood and cocobola so im thinking it will prove good results.
  12. well said paul. taking your time on a project really helps the outcome, and lessens chances of mistake. welcome to the forums too. *off topic* my friend flies model airplanes, just ARF ones right now but im trying to convince him to get a cap232, my fave style.
  13. lol. this is quite entertaining. go on, seriously.
  14. good deal. at least your gonna try it out on scrap first. good idea
  15. sounds good Stones, were you gonna go with a E.I. Rosewood body as well as a neck? if so how were you going to go about the problem of width with the available wood?
  16. you know your going to need to clearcoat it or powdercoat right? about the led's, yeh, someone just did side marker led's i think. do a search using the 'search function' at the top of the page. btw, i doubt its very easy by any far stretch so keep that in mind.
  17. question, why are you making it out of steel when youve got a tig and can work with aluminum?
  18. damn man youve got a tig? is it yours?
  19. if youve got the pic on your computer go to www.tinypic.com and upload it then copy/paste the link in here
  20. allright, back to your question. you want it a wooden guitar that is skinned with metal. do you want a hollow steel guitar, or do you want a solid metal guitar?
  21. its steEl man, STEEL looks like someone STOLE your elementary school books edit: damn man are you from the states? cause that is one BRUTALLY jacked up sentance
  22. only reason im thinking about going the router bit way is because i can get a 100% even cut all the way down BOTH sides of the boards in a couple of passes. im worried that its gonna be a pain to carve the back of the neck and then try to get it straight with hand tools.
  23. its also becoming extremely hard to find a 1 1/4" radius roundover bit in a 1/4 shank. everything is 1/2 and i dont have/ know anyone with a router that big. hmmm. problems problems
