    I will be installing a 1 piece 50's wraparound from pigtail (ala junior) on a homemade lp and would like some directions on the drilling dimentions. How far do I set the low e side of the bridge back? ect. That kind of thing.

    My first guitar was a squier strat. I replaced the neck with the warmoth neck made of maple with a pao ferro fretboard. The body I'm guessing is plywood but it could be alder. As for the pups I havent changed them since I got the guitar. There bottom of the barrell fender squier single coils.

    Im thinking I might use the double rod because my neck is going to be made of white kornia which is a softer wood than say maple. Im also getting warmoths 59' roundback neck carve (the neck from warmoth I have now is thinner and has the double rod and sounds a bit metallic) so I figure the extra wood will help to offset the sound of the rod. Any thoughts?

    It's not so much the sound that makes me want a single rod, I would like to know if a lot of people have had problems with wood compression and the fretboard devoloping bumps using the single rod. Im making this guitar and plan to keep it for life and am trying to find the best choice because I don't want to (want to try to avoid as much as possible) any problems or replacing parts e.g. neck because it devolops these symptoms. Is a single rod really that bad?

    I planning a warmoth guitar and would like to know what everyone has experienced with the regular single action truss rod (from warmoth or not). I was thinking of building my guitar with a double adjusting truss rod like the one on warmoths site http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/necks/...ion=truss_rods but does having a single action truss rod really lead to wood compression and bumps in the fretboard in most cases? I ask this because the double rod has a more metallic sound to it (I have a neck from them with the double rod) and my guitar is modeled after a 59' lp and rather not have that metallic sound in my guitar.

    I plan to build a les paul with a black limba back, black limba neck, brazillian rosewood fretboard and a flame maple cap. Would the maple cap make the guitar too bright with the use of limba? Would brw be a good coice for fretboard wood? Im also thinking of hollowing the guitar. What would that do to the sound? I have built guitars before but haven't worked with limba so am unsure. Any and all responces are much appericated as I need multiple opinions by some of the tonewood gurus on this forum.

    I definatly like the second one better. Even though thats the general conceious go with what you want. Maby you want to look a bit different and stand out. Its a good thing!

    Im not sure this is the right place to post this but here it goes. Im building a les paul with all nickle hardware (hopefully). There are a few parts (tuners, strap knobs ect.) that I can't get in nickle. If I take the parts to somone to have the chrome removed down to the nickle coat, will the screw in bushing on the tuner still be tight (the threads)? In other words would the absence of the layer of chrome cause any problems with tightening the bushing?

    I've used the non locking gotoh 510's and there very smooth. Don't know about the hight or the lock.

    My home made bolt on (regular fender style) has more sustain than my lp. It's not so much the type of joint as much as it it the quality of joint. As long as you have a tight, well fitting neck pocket your set. I much perfer bolt on's because if the neck warps or you break the neck it's no problem to change. With a neck through you might as well get a new guitar and with a set neck it's very expensive to get a new neck. just my .02

    do you have any experience with these humbuckers. Do they sound good? beefy? thick?

    In the near future I will be putting a new neck on my strat. Its a Squier affinity strat and I am not sure of the body wood. Im looking to make the guitar a little warmer and not so twangy. any suggestions?

    that helps a lot Dugz. Thanks for giving up part of your lunch break. I see why quarter sawn wood is less likley to warp.

    Everyone seems to rant about quartersawn vs. flatsawn necks but what about the bodys. With a quartersawn neck is it better to have a quartersawn body or a flatsawn body? Im using mahogany as the wood.

    I need some input from people that have put prs dragon two's in Les pauls and wired them 50's style. Im serously conserding these pickups for my next project and any info would be great? Thanx

    do you know where I could get ebony tuning buttons to put on grovers. Hopefully I could relieve some of the weight.
