I am not going to build a guitar using that method, that idea just came up in my head and I wanted to know its possibility. Besides, they don't make the V body I want, so it's not like I can buy a premade guitar. Thanks a lot for your answers though.

I was looking at the projects here, and the thought came to my head, how easy will it be to build a neckthrough guitar, if the neck is premade, while the body is just a Warmoth body or something that is cut by two lines in the middle, creating two wings, so that all there is to do, really, is cut the wings off of the ready guitar, glue and rout. I don't know how they are called, but they make hollow screws, with bushings on the outside. From googling for "Hollow Screw" and searching for images, I found this one http://cache.eb.com/eb/image?id=3941&rendTypeId=4 I think the setscrew with hollow head will be perfect for the job of the metal tube.

I like the Ran Guitars pointy headstock I am a HUGE fan of symmetry, which is why I like V shaped guitars, and I think this goes well with them. I will use that headstock (thought a different tuner spreading) on my first guitar, a King V with a Floyd Rose, and 2 humbuckers.

So a few things. 1. Does anything from my last post seem wrong? 2. The vortex idea is not set yet, so if anyone has a suggestion for the finish, speak up. 3. Which pickups should I use? I was thinking of an X2N in the bridge, but I don't know... I am looking for a tight, not so warm, not so bright tone. I am pretty much looking for the "perfect center". Same here as in - I am asking the same question? or Same here as in - Draw it out yourself? Either way, I drew it, and did some research online and on the JCF forum, and I discovered that when there is a recessed floyd, there is no need for a neck angle. What I did next is to load a picture of the guitar in photoshop, measure out the distance between the 5th and 6th fret and use that info, along with the StewMac fret calculator to tell me how much I need to increase the picture by, and I did. I then used some pencil effect (my mom is a photoshop expert, she did the effect, so I can't really claim much credit.), so now, I have a scale drawing of my guitar. I will go to Kinkos next week and get it printed. My plan is to order the neckthrough neck from Carvin without any inlays, extra jumbo frets and locking nut preparation after I get my plan and get two really big pieces of mahogany, cut the wings, drill a hole for the electrical wires coming from the pickups glue the wings, sand, rout, sand finish. The only thing I don't know yet. HOW SHOULD I FINISH IT? I wanted a graphic, but I realized it won't make my guitar "neutral" I have this problem that if I will paint the guitar in blue (a non passionate, calm color), I wont be able to play passionate stuff properly, but if I will paint it red (a passionate color) I wont be able to play calm stuff. I know it doesn't make sense, but its a psychological thing for me. I was thinking of a vortex, like the james bond one: but without the "007" in the center, and in very strong blacks/white (not gray like in the pic) I am still open for suggestions though. Thank you. So I have started to draw my neck in order to determine the angle, if any. What are the standard frets carvin uses? How high is a Floyd nut? Ideally, how high is a recessed OFR bridge? Thanks

My question is, how high is a recessed original floyd? Like, I understand how to do the drawing, but it asks you to put the hight of the bridge according to the action, and I don't know how high/low it can go, if it makes sense.

My cousin is an art major in UCSD, I will ask her to draw everything. Any reply about the floyd?

so I have decided to draw it myself. I have seen some people mock the guitar up in photoshop, and somehow make the picture like 5000% biger, so that it's the right size. I want to do that, but the only thing is that a KV2 has a scale length of 25.5, while the carvin/stew mac necks have a scale of 25. Will that be a problem? I got some specs: NECK DIMENSIONS 1st Fret: .775”, 12th Fret: .910” NO. OF FRETS 24 Jumbo Frets SCALE LENGTH 25.5” WIDTH AT NUT 1-11/16” UNIQUE FEATURES Compound (12” to 14”) Fingerboard Radius and though I am considering building a double Rhoads (slightly bigger = sexy) Just a few questions left. Would you reccomend the StewMac neck or the Carvin neck? The StewMac neck is thinner (apparently), but the Carvin neck can come with no inlays and ready for a locking nut... As the floyd will be recessed (it will go both ways) like in the picture below: http://www.guitar-er.com/Floyd.jpg what will be its hight over the guitar? Will it need a neck angle/raised board? Since the Carvin (and I'm assuming the StewMac) necks are not angled, how easy will it be to glue the wings 2mm or 3mm lower then the body, and just shave off the remaining neck blank (if it makes sense...). As for the color, I was thinking of a marble color, as some one here mentioned, it does look cool, but I think I am going to go with some graphic, red and blue flames maybe? well, first of all i did say EASIER, not easiest. Second, would a Kahler be easier to install? Does anyone here have aim or something? Mine is aChapo8 Edit: Does anyone have any KV2 dimensions?

Ok, heres the deal. I have decided to go for a neck through king V without a top, just a piece of maple between two mahogany wings. It will have a floyd, which will be easier to install, as there will be no need for special angles (though it still wont be easy). I went online and came across a site called www.ormsbyguitars.com they make polka dot v's, and i thought the way they glue the neck and wings is pretty cool Now that I am not going for a fancy top, does anyone have any ideas for a finish? I don't want it to be some boring black or something like that.... Alon

Well, thats the thing... With a pre bought neck and professionally done plans (by professionals...), it just seems like finding a nice procedure for the woodworking and slowly following it, though I am pretty sure that is not the case. I have read through a bunch of threads on Carvin, HC, UG and more where someone had built a neck through guitar with a floyd, the problem was that no one had used a top wood on it, and it was always a little bit differant from what I was looking for. That's why I'm here...
