  1. Yes, it buzzes when the wah is off, and the when it is on. And for some reason, you can control the "tone" of the buzz both ways. It isn't the power supply, because I can use the same setup to power a distortion pedal.
  2. How old is your son? If he's not doing crazy divebomb stuff, he shouldn't have too much of a problem. Some people have moderate success with these things. I've heard that you can really improve their tuning stability by putting chapstick on the knife edges (the posts the tremolo rests on). Yeah, floyds are the best things in the world but will it really be worth 200- 300 dollars?
  3. Have you had any experience burning holes through the armpits of your shirts?
  4. okay, if you plan on laminating, i would make all the laminates a little bit oversized in the "body depth" (or width, whatever. about 1.5") dimension. My laminates moved a little bit on me, but I can just skin them with a table saw and they'll be fine. Everything will be fine on my guitar, because the body depth isn't really crucial, but it could have been a real problem.
  5. but wouldn't it be easier to just to use a phaser pedal, AND a wah pedal, or were you planning on having an auto wah kind of thing?
  6. I recently purchased a VOX 847 Wah Pedal, and It has worked fine for about a week... BUT earlier today it died. It buzzes (The loud, constant kind of buzz) when I plug in the cable (the one from the amp to the pedal). Both the cables work fine when you plug them directly from the amp to the guitar Now comes the interesting bit (interesting to me anyway...) Try and stay with me here... If you plug the cable from the amplifier into the input on the pedal that would normally go to the guitar, and plug the cable from the output of the pedal that would normally go to the amplifier into the guitar, it will bypass the signal, but when you stomp on the pedal to turn it on, it becomes completely silent. I really hope someone can help me out here. Maybe someone here has repaired something like this before.
  7. I've made a maple/ ebony/ maple/ ebony/ maple neck, and there are 2 veneers in between each laminate.
  8. Try not to erase with a Pink Pearl eraser on your Zebrano body, gets in all the pores.. It's a mess. I got it all out with an exacto knife, so it's all good now.
  9. This picture was confusing me so much until I noticed the frets were fanned. Are you afraid the heat will cause it to crack?
  10. Try to use short, quick strokes. That way you can avoid runs and bubbles.
  11. I think a baseball bat guitar would be awesome.
  12. what do you mean "build clear up so that it's level"?
  13. huh, from what i heard, the $50 ones on ebay are supposed to melt the second you plug in your amp and when you raise the pitch, all your strings break at once. haha, not really, but I guess you just got lucky.
  14. I never really thought about it, but you know your LP's scale length is 24.75, so just get out a yardstick or something and find out where it fits. However, if you were to lay your guitar on a table and kneel down to look at it from the side, the distance from the point at which the string leaves the nut to the contact point at the bridge is your scale length. There isn't any weird diagonal kind of stuff.
  15. LOL! A couple of weeks ago, one of the drummer's sticks broke and one of the piece came flying out of the drum kit, hitting me in the arm, resulting in blood. Good times. ... Which reminds me, I actually put some blood between the top and body of one of my last guitar projects. I believe that it will give the guitar some serious mojo, make the future owner play and sound like a god and all women will be at his feet. haha, who's blood? That might be the secret ingredient for my guitar.
  16. Thanks guys, I think I'm gonna go with a Floyd. Catching my finger on the nut and bleeding (onstage) might be pretty hardcore... i have no problem with hijacked threads!
  17. i wish I had a teacher like you at my school.
  18. I don't know why it posted 2 of this topic. sorry about that.
  19. divebombs would be nice. Can I avoid that ugly locking nut with locking tuners?
  20. I was planning on putting a floyd rose in my first guitar for a long time but I wanted to get some other opinions. It's going to be a neck- through explorer. Someone told me that Floyds "suck the tone out of a guitar." Now I'm leaning more towards a string- through design.
  21. I saw this guitar where the cover for the floyd was curved outwards. Imagine one of those button thingys on top of the fast food drinks. The curve was in the shape of a teardrop since it was a Dimebag Darrel memorial guitar. I don't know if I explained the concept very well, but I think it would be a good solution to your problem.
  22. Search for "Fiber Optics" on this site and check out some of the amazing stuff that people have done with them.
  23. Hey, what's up?- first post here... using something like a business card in the nut is going to kill all your sustain.
