  1. If it were me, I wouldn't use chemicals to get the finish off. I'd just sand it off.
  2. That does look pretty good for cheap wood, I think. Can't wait to see you start work on it. I love watching guitars devolping.
  3. Ok, thanks Wes. I'll be sure to post pics when I'm, done.
  4. thanks guys, i checked out brians poor mans burst on the main site. looks good, and easy. But i want to know, the main color i'm using is opaque, so would i have to do that before the outside?
  5. all amps buzz more when on the overdrive channel.... but if its really really loud, it might be a problem, but yeah, buzzing does go up with gain and drive.
  6. Looks awesome man, can't wait to see one done. Keep up the good work.
  7. I'm refinishing my guitar, and I know what I want the finish to look like. But I'm not sure how to apply it. I don't have an airbrush or anything, I'm doing it out of aerosol cans, so I'm not even sure IF it can be done. The main color for the top of the body is going to be a nice deep burgandy satin I have, and I want it to kind of "fade" to black around the edges, as the sides and back will be black. I don't have much of an example, but my friend has a squier strat with "3 color sunburst" finish, but it's basically a brownish wood finish that fades to black. Sorry I'm not too clear, I hope someone can understand what I'm saying.
  8. Thanks guys, that what I did, I drew a diagram. Thankfully, i only had to solder one wire to get the electronics out, and my dads really good at soldering. Since I'm getting new pups we just cut the wires and we'll desolder them later. So that was good. I've got the back and sides sanded down, and I'm finishing the sanding tommorrow. For colors I've got a nice deep burgandy satin paint, and its going to go to black around the edges, like a lot of guitars do. This is my first time working with a guitar and it's awesome. I'm going to build my own for my next guitar.
  9. I've decided to refinish my black Epi SG special, and i know how to do everything except remove the pickups and electronics. I don't want to mess anything up, so could someone help me. It has two humbuckers, the input for the lead, a tone knob, a volume knob and a 3 way toggle.
