  1. hi, this summer i will be staying in canada for about two weaks, and i intend to buy a neck from carvin from there as i pay a lot less for shiping. now, has anybody already done this and can tell me what taxes and so i will have to pay, how much sending it took and anything else i may need to take in account. thank you.
  2. yeahh no empty holes in the board
  3. ok. i checked the direction and it is right. i also checked the solder points, and is ok. the ic i'm using is tl082. i'm not good with specs, but maybe could be sthg with that?
  4. trying to resurrect this thread cos it ain't working.... what might be the reasson for the loss of signal, i'm 90% sure i have it wired correctly, the transistor i'm using is not j201 but they told me in the shop this one is a correct substitute... i'll look for the name if it is of any help... but it's so tiny... XD just love this stuff and had to put some no matter it didn't make any sense

dude, THAT is fast!!!!! thank you

    9v Ac

hello, i was given this A.R.T Xtreme+ pedal but got no power supply so i made my own just with a power transformer. i plugged and have had no problem so far. but the thing is it gives like 10.5 volts instead of 9... do you think it can have a negative "effect" on the electronics. if so (what i assume) what might be an easy solution? thanx boys
  7. i have it plugged into a mixer
  8. i don't know much about what i'm doing anyway , but that goes for everything i do, not just electronics. so now to some other thing. i put into the sockets tl082s, and i'm getting such a weak signal out, much weaker even than the one from the guitar alone. what can it be? i don't know if it is a stupidity like before, in any case i already tried turning the pots in every feasible way XD
  9. i feel like an asshole, seriously, i didn't thought about it, just plugged in the first ic i had around. wish i could just delete the question...... thanx
  10. hello my friends have a little problem with this stuff: condor cab sim i made the pcb, soldered correctly all the stuff, plugged it in, and got nothing on the output soooooooooo, time to check where should i start from. i have no idea what might be wrong, any idea?????? btw, i'm using 386 as op-amps
  11. the valve doesn't light up, is that normal. sometimes i can see a little glow. i pluged it and didn't hear anything. what is the way to run the filaments on ac, what is the difference?
  12. just one last thing before i go to party I really cannot express how thankfull i am to the people round here. it's not only you do rule . it's that besides you are some of the nicest people i've met. i just can't explain this in english, it's just a lack of vocabulary in theese kind of things sorry, but i do think you are great. okokok... more tomorrow
  13. i'm really sorry about that
  14. 12.4 - transformer secondary ac 17.8 - filament supply dc this were the values i was getting just when i got back to meassure it today i had gone as i promised to the shop right after the exam.... only had a 22 ohm resistor ... what kind of shop is than well well well ... right now i'm getting 11.2 volts on the filaments with the valve in the socket it's a pity i could be playing right now with my brand new mc tubes, see if i can get to a good shop on saturday and get some more values and tweak a little bit more till i get it to work
  15. maybe a two-way truss rod is what you need, if you want to make it bow in the direction of the string's tension??
  16. you mean both have the same info??
  17. i'm thinking of what a basic literature would be, i'm planning on buying about 100$ in books and have made this list: Guitarmaking by William R. Cumpiano, Jonathan D. Natelson $23.80 - Quantity : 1 The Art of Inlay by Larry Robinson $13.97 - Quantity : 1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other items in your Shopping Cart: Guitar Electronics for Musicians (Guitar Reference) by Donald Brosnac $17.46 - Quantity : 1 How to Make Your Electric Guitar Play Great! by Dan Erlewine $13.97 - Quantity : 1 Guitar Player Repair Guide by Dan Erlewine $16.07 - Quantity : 1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subtotal: $85.27 any recomendation??
  18. yeah brian, i think someone won you
  19. no, i'm in spain. lovekraft: i get 18.7 volts without the tube in, i'll try with a higher value(currently 12 ohms). the tube seems to be ok, if what you mean with continuity is a little resistance. i´ll keep this updated till i get to make it sound . btw: as i followed the schematics i saw, i didn't realize that the guy who made them for 230volts used as t2 a 18v 500mA. that won't give 140v will it? anyway it makes it cleaner, and changing the transformer is a 3 € mod, the easiest to get to work in my case, just four solderings to change and ready to go XD. off to study now , got an exam on saturday, file structures
  20. well, i think the easiest solution is making a new power supply, i wanted to go the easy way using the tonepad layout, and i've learned some interesting things on the way. tomorrow i´ll be getting two voltage regulator (i don't know if it's called like that) for 12V and 140V and reuse the parts i already have. i asked a friend who knows about electronics more than me and that's what he told me. he said "just use the voltage regulator" but i wanted to know why it didn't work if the article said so, i'm just that pig-headed anyways thank you for the help, i'll write fred and tell him about this too.
  21. i get 17 volts on the filaments, but the valve doesn't even glow, when you mean a load, you mean a guitar plugged?? is this an expected phenomenon or i just killed the valve cos it doesn't glow
  22. i know there was a site i was linked to once, but i just can't find the link, i'll keep searching
