  1. This place is great. Alot of useful stuff here. http://www.alliedlutherie.com/
  2. Hey Derek, Thanks for the offer, but thats not wide enough. I play guitars that are a touch narrower at the nut, and wider at the 24th fret. Also, with the scale being 26" instead of 24.75 or 25.5, it has to be a bit wider yet. I'll check those out baba. I got an email from a company today, which was pretty weak. They were like "you can order purple heart from this page....." and I don't do business with people not willing to help me heh.
  3. Hey guys, I'm building a neck through 7 string guitar with a 26" scale. I need an ebony fingerboard blank 1/4" x 3" x 22". any idea where I can get this. Stewmac's blanks are too small.
  4. Kilns not only control temperature, but humidity as well.
  5. I've been wanting to do this for a while. I'm going to build a lap steel. I want to build it like the older fender style. Thanks
  6. anyone know where to get the carbon rods?
  7. I'm building 2 7 string neck throughs. I was wondering, what would be the best way to do the skunk stripes. I don't want to put a maple cap/fingerboard on it if I can help it, just want it to be maple neck w/o board. I'm thinking I won't be able to do it without some big precise machinery to drill the hole from the headstock where the adjustment would be, to the channel where the rod resides. Any ideas here?
  8. BTW, Alex... You need to put the cigarette burns on the headstock. =)
  9. Dave, could you email me that step by step?? music@phalanxmills.com I heard PCB etchant would work to take chrome off, then I think the rusty nails and water in a jar for a week or so would work great. To all you guys freaking out about what he's doin, he said it was a cheapo from ebay, and honestly, he's not devaluing it in any way, most likley he's increasing the value, because people will pay some cash for something that looks played and "broken in." I just finished my telecaster, and did a little relicing on it. Not a beat up look, but the look of a guitar thats 30 some years old, that was taken care of, but has just succumb to being used. I'll post pictures later. To each his own... give me a guitar with some milage on it anyday, great guitars are made to be played, not hung on the wall. =)
  10. 92 boogie 50 caliber +. Tubes 4 months old, sounds killer. Missing 1 cap on the EQ slider. Slider works fine. $500 + shipping. Email me for details. music@phalanxmills.com
  11. If you add a cap to the top of the guitar, you'll also have to fill the neck pocket in to bring the neck up to the proper height. For quick and dirty, throw a pieve of 1/4 or 1/2 inch mahogany on the back and call it a day. Also, I think Brian sells flamed maple vaneer, which is very thin, and would add a bit of thickness, as well as a nice look to the top.
  12. Well, I've finally almost finished my tele. It's ready for buffing now. What cloth and compound do you guys use to start the process and what do you finish up with? Thanks
  13. Just bought a 68 deluxe reverb, and some things need to go. Expandora 2 $140 (a few months old, box, and all paperwork, hardly used, sounds sweet) Peavey Rockmaster 3 channel all tube preamp. This thing ROCKS! DOn't use rack anymore so it's gotta go. no footswitch. $100 Old Ibanez CP-9 compressor, from the same series as the infamous TS-9 tubescreamsers, really great sounding vintage pedal. $65 Alesis D4 drum module. have manuals, and maybe have the box someplace, will have to check. $130 Morley Bad Horsie original version. $70 send me an email at ehkitchen@yahoo.com for some photos. all this stuff is in 100% working order, i'm just broke and need some cash. =(
  14. If you live in north east or eastern ohio, there is an amish mill called keim lumber near millersburg. It's an amazing place, and is hard not to leave with more than you really need. =) It's about 2 acers of buildings filled with rough cut wood. You can still see the grain enough to find more choice pieces tho, and they offer milling of the wood as well for a couple bucks more.
  15. Well, I have my telecaster with about 6 coats of clear on in, and was getting ready to spray the color on it, when i dropped a flashlight on it and put a pretty good ding in the finish. whats the best way to fix this, maybe spray some clear laquer into the cap and drop it in, or something like that?? it's going to be a black finish, so really, anything would work. It's just too deep to add a couple more coats of laquer to cover it up. Thanks
  16. I probably will just shim it. It's just so minor that i'm afraid i won't be able to get something thin enough to work.
  17. anyone know where to buy one or how to make one? I cut the neck pocket of my tele too deep, so the bridge won't go low enough to set the action. So if i angle the pocket down a bit, it will force me to raise the bridge. also, my next guitar will need an angled pocket anyway. =)
  18. Expandora 2 $150 (about 2 months old, box, and all paperwork, hardly used, sounds sweet) Digitech Main Squeeze Compressor Pedal, box and manual, excellent condition $50 Old Ibanez CP-9 compressor, from the same series as the infamous TS-9 tubescreamsers, really great sounding vintage pedal. $65 send me an email at ehkitchen@yahoo.com for some photos. all this stuff is in 100% working order, i'm just broke and need some cash. =(
  19. hey guys, I have an older Yamaha RBX bass neck that i just cut out a body for. Problem is, the nut is gone off the truss rod. Anyone know the size of this? I email guitarguru@yamaha.com and he told me he did not have access to that info and i had to send snailmail to the mothership in japan. Well, I wanna get this project done (because my poor ass bass player is using my good P-Bass =p) so i come to you guys while i wait for the word from Japan. I tried to fit a micrometer down in there to messure, but it won't fit, so i'm just kinda stuck. The thread is coarse too if that matters. Thanks, F1sh
  20. Hey guys, i'm looking for some neck ferrals and bolts. I don't want to buy 12 from stew mac. It's for a bass, so i want 4 or 5 of them. any ideas where i can get em? F1sh
  21. anyone have the www address for the bridge maker?
  22. check out www.stewmac.com. they have a water-based woodsealer that i'm using, works well, but make sure your careful not to sand through some area and not through others, it's clear but makes the wood slightly darker when clear laquer is applied. IMO the wood looks better when you don't sand through it.
  23. ***, looks like they selling golf clubs now....
