  1. Happy recovery, then. I am in my 15th year of that trip, 12 more to go. Please explain more about the "twisted/helix neck" Sounds more like an injury than a means of avoiding one. There are some very good resources on http://buildingtheergonomicguitar.com/2008...ric-guitar.html that you should look into. If you are so inclined, I am also pointing to a number of patents in http://guitarworks.thestrandbergs.com/2008...6/neck-craning/ that explain the background in an un-worldly language - but they have good pictures Here's a good one too: http://www.myfoxaustin.com/myfox/pages/Ins...mp;pageId=5.2.1
  2. No promises about the progress pace as I am just recovering from a 15 year long stint of taking care of kids and a day job... People don't seem to hot on CAD drawings for some reasons, but here's one of mine: Highlights: - Twisted/helix neck, preferably in aluminum if I can pull it off, but otherwise in wood (likely wenge, because I have a whole bunch) - Homegrown bridge/tuner design, drawings on site - Lacewood body, looking for wood, drop me a line if you have for sale (if not possible, have a bunch of zebrano) - Lace Alumitones 3S pickups - 6 position mic selector of yet to be determined wiring I'm posting progress and musings on my blog, so drop me a line if you have comments or thoughts.
  3. I can recommend this South Korean company http://www.jcustom.kr/ They have a store on eBay called CUSTOM HEADLESS http://stores.ebay.com/CUSTOM-HEADLESS_W0Q...sQ3amesstQQtZkm I bought a combination locking nut for double-ball ended and regular strings and am very happy with the quality and the service. They are developing their own version of an R-Trem like system that should be launched shortly.
  4. I might be a tad off-topic, but you are welcome to check out my bridge plans at http://guitarworks.thestrandbergs.com/ I am planning a bridge with tuners for a headless design, but the tuners themselves will work perfectly whether it's a fixed bridge or a tremolo, 6-, 7-, or 8-string. I haven't uploaded the latest version of the plans, but let me know and I will e-mail them.
  5. Come to think of it, don't worry about the ship to Sweden part unless you are in Europe. I have several options for US shipping addresses where I can get it picked up. Thanks in advance!
  6. Hey, if you want to share any thoughts with another Swede, give me a holler. I don't claim to be an expert, but I did use to be a mechanical engineer, and will be trying out a variety of things for neck construction in the near future. (See http://guitarworks.thestrandbergs.com/) Stewart MacDonald (http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Truss_rods/Carbon_fiber/Carbon_Fiber.html) have shipped things just as fast (or faster) than any Swedish supplier you could find, is my experience. And with the good exchange rate, VAT and shipping isn't even a big deal. Cheers, Ola Strandberg
  7. Hi! I am looking for Lacewood for my current project (see http://guitarworks.thestrandbergs.com/). If you have a piece to spare that is thick enough for a bookmatched solidbody (worst case, I will make the body out of four pieces if the blank is not thick enough). The body shape is quite small - see Strat comparison on my blog, but the top will be carved and the back also shaped I think. I need it in Sweden or shipped to Sweden. Have checked with "Bröderna Holm" and "Fanerkompaniet", which are the dealers I have worked with in the past, but they have nothing in stock and no plans to get any. Any feedback on the tonal qualities of lacewood is also appreciated! I have only seen it on pictures and think the look is perfect for my build, but would like to know how it behaves in a solidbody. Thanks in advance, Ola Strandberg Strandberg Guitarworks, Uppsala, Sweden
