  1. If you don't want to build your own you could try changing pickups on your squier for an easier project. But of course it's more fun building on from scratch!
  2. Sorry for the hijack, but thought it was unnecessary to start a new thread. My friend was wondering if tele covers fit on normal single coils. Aren't tele pickups much smaller than normal single coils? Would appreciate if someone could answer.
  3. I'm in fact building a Les Paul right now with a mahogany body and a spruce top. Spruce is very soft, so I would suggest using a pickguard or anything to protect the top. I will let you know how it sounds when it is done!
  4. Have you even checked the main page? http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/tutorial9.htm
  5. I'm not sure if I understood your question correctly, but try a search over here: Click Here
  6. I don't know if this was mentioned, but I would put in a stereo jack in the guitar and wire the leds to the ring, so that they would only be on if the guitar plug is plugged in.
  7. And we have two winners it seems... Congrats Lovekraft and Scott

  9. I'm not quite sure about if there are any switches like that, but there probably is. Just wait for the electronics gurus to arrive, and they'll probably answer. The schematic would look something like this:
  10. just convert it to jpg with microsoft paint or any other program and then go to any free image hosting site and upload the picture..
  11. You need to add a link to file with the 'http://' button or if it is a image a you want it displayed press the 'img' button. Here is a veroboard schematic of the booster beginner project on diystompboxes.com, which I've turned into an onboard effect. It is not a preamp, but it will boost your signal. I'm not totally sure if it works cause I haven't tested the circuit yet, but I have soldered it and it will be placed in my Les Paul I'm building. Click Here for schematic
  12. Yes.. with the super switch.. it will basically be two different switches.. so that when it is in one position the same corresponding plugs will be connected.. Here is a picture describing a similar situation though with a more simple kind of switch: Please correct me if I'm wrong.. EDIT: Here is a picture of the superswitch: Click Here
  13. I don't know if it is just me, or do the pedals look a bit different know. Perhaps they have remodelled them.
  14. well basically my local electronics shop is out of 500K pots, and I don't know when they will get more. I have two at home, and need two more, but I won't start ordering from abroad just to get two more pots (I live in Finland). So I thought I would try it out with 1meg pots..
  15. Not sure if this has been answered before, but I tried a couple of searches and couldn't find any answer to my problem. I'm building a Les Paul with a normal set-up of electronics (2 HB, 4 Pots, 3-way switch), and my question is that can ohm-values of the neck pots (eg. 500K) be different from the bridge pots values (eg. 1Meg)? I think I'm going to have the neck volume and tone pots be 500K and the bridge volume and tone pots be 1Meg. I'm just afraid of the something will happen when both pickups are chosen . I hope there is an easy answer for this, and I apologize for my 'newbieness'. thank you.
  16. So, I'm just wondering if this is possible or if the cover will somehow 'disturb' (can't find the right word) the pickups and circuit. I am wondering this as I was thinking of redoing the body of my old guitar (with a humbucker and two single coils) and thought it would look better if the two single-coils are hidden under a humbucker cover to make it seem as if they are a humbucker.
  17. I think he as realized I'm from Finland, and translated into English that would mean: nice axe. the LED idea is clever.. thanks for the comments. I appreciate criticism for coming projects, and yes the lacquering isn't the best.
  18. Well after hanging around at these forums since the summer it finally was time to start a project of my own. I built this guitar together with two of my friends and it actually turned out quite well, even though far from very good. But it was good experience, and I hope I'll build many more guitars. The guitar features an alder body, oak neck (don't know if it's a great neck material, but it is hard at least), rosewood 22 fret fretboard, Black Hardware, Tun-a-matic bridge, Kent Armstrong Distortion in the bridge, Kent Armstrong PAF in the neck, Volume, Tone, 3-way switch and a skull with red LED eyes, which can be turned on with a switch . The sound is good, and I think the guitar also turned out quite well. The pics follow here. I hope you like it. Close-Up on skull.. The eyes turned on.. An overview of the guitar (when it isn't finished) The pictures are quite crap, and if requested I'll take some more.
