  1. I haven't bought a Kahler in a while. If I did though I would buy the 2300 because I really have not been happy with the imports I bought...and I bought a bunch of them.

Maiden, there is a good hardwood shop in Austin I went to earlier this year and stocked up on sapelle and Maple...I know it's a little bit of a trip for you,but if you stocked up it would be worth it.

  2. Dude,I feel for you.I have had so many bike wrecks in the last couple of years that i just don't want to get back on one yet.The last one left me pretty sore.I left my bike over at a buddy's house(after getting it back on the road with a lot of new parts)a few months ago and I haven't missed it too much.TBH I don't know if I will ever be comfortable on it again.

Been toying with the idea of getting a Harley Switchback, but I feel like I just don't know if I should. My BMW will likely have to go.

  3. I have a hard time understanding why a grown man would let strangers on a forum determine his own personal worth or ability.I don't mean to sound harsh, but you need to show some fortitude.Anyway, that's the last time I will ever respond to you feeling sorry for yourself

I have heard it before and it is certainly not your best side.

    You have talent.Get over it.

  4. You should put a finish on it(oil or whatever) soon. You need to eqalize the moisture exchange as quickly as you can so the glue joints don't start to separate. That happens a lot to me with ebony since ebony is naturally oily and most other woods aren't.The other woods expand and contract more and weaken the joint.

  5. Makes me want to finish my 7 string. The neck is almost complete and has a similar board.Maybe over Thanksgiving I can get over my laziness long enough to make progress.

I think your idea of farming out the finish is a good one.I may have to do that myself...just keep the fun part for me and let soomeone else suffer.

  6. You should still seal the end grain on poplar.I am not sure that you shouldn't seal end grain on everything...I seal all wood regardless of type, but since end grain is actually how a tree sucks water up inside itself I always figure it is going to suck up whatever you put on it until it is sealed.

The primer will seal it eventually, you'll just need to keep applying and sanding until it fills the pores and levels out.
