Why do I get mentioned every time unicorn buttholes come up?
-
I rarely comment on these, but I just have to say DemonX's guitar really tickles my fancy this month.I also loved the Muzz-stroyer,but the space theme on a superstrat really got my attention.
-
Yeah,I play a lot of Vs and Explorers,so I went through a lot of strap pin moving until I figured it out. There are a few styles of guitars that need that button on the back to balance right,Vs and Explorers being two of them.If you do put the pin on the top though,be sure to use straplocks.
Really, straplocks are a good idea no matter what.
-
The key to using the behind the neck pins is that you put the strap on that button backwards.Nothing weird about it.Matter of fact the strap falls exactly right on your shoulder when you do it that way.

Pro...it is the easiest way to finish wood IMO
Con...it gets dirty and looks like hell really quickly.
That's really all there is to it.
-
I am sure I will eventually, but not with that BMW.If I am going to risk death it should be on a nicer bike.
-
Also,I burned a whole bunch of my unfinished projects a few months back.I needed a fresh start...it was like an exorcism of sorts.
-
Dude,I feel for you.I have had so many bike wrecks in the last couple of years that i just don't want to get back on one yet.The last one left me pretty sore.I left my bike over at a buddy's house(after getting it back on the road with a lot of new parts)a few months ago and I haven't missed it too much.TBH I don't know if I will ever be comfortable on it again.
Been toying with the idea of getting a Harley Switchback, but I feel like I just don't know if I should. My BMW will likely have to go.

I have a hard time understanding why a grown man would let strangers on a forum determine his own personal worth or ability.I don't mean to sound harsh, but you need to show some fortitude.Anyway, that's the last time I will ever respond to you feeling sorry for yourself
I have heard it before and it is certainly not your best side.
You have talent.Get over it.
-
People don't understand because of the glut of cheap mass produced guitars on the market. You can't hope to erase stupidity from the consumer masses.

You should put a finish on it(oil or whatever) soon. You need to eqalize the moisture exchange as quickly as you can so the glue joints don't start to separate. That happens a lot to me with ebony since ebony is naturally oily and most other woods aren't.The other woods expand and contract more and weaken the joint.
-
Makes me want to finish my 7 string. The neck is almost complete and has a similar board.Maybe over Thanksgiving I can get over my laziness long enough to make progress.
I think your idea of farming out the finish is a good one.I may have to do that myself...just keep the fun part for me and let soomeone else suffer.

No,but it is a cheaper(in Asia) alternative to the mahogany we use in the U.S....shipping it here in small quantities would just make it more expensive than the better stuff we already have.
If you just want a cheap mahogany substitute, there is already plenty of Phillipine Mahogany here in the U.S.

Doh! Er.......what's a homer?
Guy who votes for his buddy(the home team) no matter what.

I always do it that way too when I use a standard nut..
-
Only if you angle it.If you run it straight like that then it can break the jack and sometimes other parts when you or someone else steps on the cord. Those football strat plates are good for that.
-
Best place I have ever seen the jack on a V is close to the tip of the back of the upper horn.Very convenient. But I put mine pretty close to where you put yours...because I don't sit to play, and if I did I would play a super strat.
-
You should still seal the end grain on poplar.I am not sure that you shouldn't seal end grain on everything...I seal all wood regardless of type, but since end grain is actually how a tree sucks water up inside itself I always figure it is going to suck up whatever you put on it until it is sealed.
The primer will seal it eventually, you'll just need to keep applying and sanding until it fills the pores and levels out.

Voodoo doll.Lots of pins. And mail them dog poop if you can find an address.
It's what I would do.

I also use the flatmount version, but I did find this pic
-
I certainly like it.Not a fan of oiled necks,but regardless it's a classy guitar.

The Goldfish Cracker won one month.Nothing mainstream there.

I haven't bought a Kahler in a while. If I did though I would buy the 2300 because I really have not been happy with the imports I bought...and I bought a bunch of them.
Maiden, there is a good hardwood shop in Austin I went to earlier this year and stocked up on sapelle and Maple...I know it's a little bit of a trip for you,but if you stocked up it would be worth it.
