any opinions on the scratch guard shape

hey been a while due to the weather down under. but i have made some progress only thing left is to make the input jack cpver plate. i had a circle as is common for the flying V but it looks...bad. so here is a picture of it as is im thinking ill make a trapeziumish parallelagram, parallel to the pickguards edge and then the other two sides following the body. but i am open to suggestions

hey i have tried a few time to get the wiring right with this set up and i just cant do it i have 2 tonerider generator humbuckers 1 shadow kill pot in the volume position a 3 way toggle switch and 1 tone. how should this be wired! thanks in advance CRSKmD

the kill switch is part of the pot though. interferes when u press the kill switch the imediatly change pickups they are half on until you hit the kill switch a few times

does any one know how to wire a 1 volume(shadowkillpot as volume) 1 tone 3 way switch with a HH (toneride generator) pickup set? i have done it how i think it should be but the kill switch seams to interfere with the pickup switch

nah it should pretty much look like the mockups i tried the military styled 'arrow chevrons' and it didnt work as well, but the tape is reffered to as chevron tape at my local hardware store. and here as well http://www.landw.co.za/products/view/1 and as i said im going for the electrical harzard tape cheers anyway but i dont think the arrowed chevron will work because the body is already v shaped

un fortunatly i ahve done the block inlays already but it fits well enough andy way have done a bit more its YELLOW now still more coats to do

here is my attept at showing it black and still shinney and to compare the silver i have to say im still liking the silver as my idea behind this project was to look industrial. i think with the chevrons (electrical hazard tape style) and the standard tread plate it forfill this goal better as most work places would not bother to pay more for less visible tred plate. just MHO. but i still want to hear all of yours

haha cheers the t shirt is my design/rip off i printed it at home but yer the head stock is going black thats one thing i am not sure on i can always get it anadised after but if ur handy with photo shop u can colourise it ? yep black it is but pickgaurd probaly will stay as it is

got the undercoating done today by the way i went with a half built neck (truss rod installed, fretboard slotted, blank headstock) and the finished it with the head stock and inlays i wanted mixing paint and thinner (nitro) before painting painting first undercoat done

btw my opinion is without becasue it looks like an afterthough with the matching headstock although im still interested iny our opinions

yes that is indeed an aeroplane it is now gone down to the hanger and is being painted and run through final tests before flying (yes it will fly because it is not the first one we have built) and cheers the guitar has been undercoated and should get first coat of paint on today. should the body match the head stock or not....? (same pattern on headstock as body)

cut and routed and beveled out side of pickguard bevel even though i could ahve made all of the body from scratch i thought it quicker to get a body and neck blank. this is purely due to time constraints for school.

NECK maple neck rosewood fretboard block inlays cream binding for neck BODY basswood this project came about when i found a way to include it into my Visual Arts Studies practical. i thought id try for something simple because of time restraints, hence the V no curves and went with a tuneomatic instead of a floyd rose like last time. the theme of this guitar (at present) is industrial i had the idea of painting it with black and yellow chevrons 9electric hazard style) and with a tred/diamond plate pickguard. gold hardware 'Tone rider Generator pickups' if any one has used these please tell me how they sounded Nitro paint? yes or no

the sparking was from the blade occasionaly touching the guide and i think the density of the Ebony i used. yes i inlayed the fret board from scratch ( not an easy job XD)

Hey Guys i though that after all the S*Bomb i got about it being a kit id but up a thread showing some photos of how i made it. The idea for this project probably started just after I started playing guitar. I had the idea that it would be cool to make my own guitar. I had always had my eyes set on an Ibanez JEM 777VWH.because I liked the way it looked. Later I found that this guitar was also a very good instrument. Unfortunately this guitar’s production ceased 30 years ago (1977) and even when they were in production they retailed for alot. To tackle such a project is quite a learning experience. I think that more then even skill, your patience gets exercised to the limit. It's very time consuming and trying to see quick results will usually cause setbacks. It takes a lot of time to plan the project and to just even figure out what kind of guitar you want. I wasn't really sure at first and was leaning toward making a V style but eventually gravitated to a JEM style as that is what I have always wanted. Originally I wanted to have white and gold Dimarzio Evo 2’s set (3 pickups) because that was the pickups used in the Ibanez JEM 777 VWH. But after about a month of constant research I found that the pickups could only be special ordered at US$300 each (that’s US$ 900 all up for just the pickups). Instead I decided to settle for EMG pickups which are an active pickup (the magnet is an electro-magnet, this helps to reduce buzzing) EMG 60A is in the neck position because this pickup is made with alnico magnets apposed to ceramic which give it a fatter, deeper sounding tone (old style jazz and blues). EMG SA single coil pickup is in the middle position because this pickup gives a vintage Stratocaster sound (think Eric Clapton) which heavily contrasts the bass sound of the EMG 60A with a more pronounced middle and treble tone. Last but not least I chose to use an EMG 81 in the bridge position because this pickup delivers high output pickup designed especially for the lead guitarist. It has a razor sharp attack, and incredible sustain. Body: Brazilian Mahogany Neck: 5 Piece (rockmaple/ebony/rockmaple/ebony/rockmaple) fretboard: Madagascar ebony ( upper 12 frets are scalloped) Pickups: neck=EMG 60A Mid=EMG SA Bridge=EMG81 Bridge: floyd Rose original (gold) tuners: grover locking tuners (gold) Pickguard: custom natural finish i will add more photos when i get a chance, but with dial up internet its a slow task. cheers, i hope to get some constructive feed back

my first guitar i have made, i made it custom to what i wanted at the time from the ground up. im gonna call it a 'R-Jem' as i combined my own ideas with a RG and JEM 777 it is based on the original ibanez JEM 777.
