  1. one of the first songs i learned was Purple HAze. So father wants hendrix, purple haze is great. and it improves a little right hand picking technique. another song i first learned was Kiss- Rock and Roll All Night (and party every day), but thats mostly powerchords. Good luck with the teachin
  2. Maybe, actually im sure you have thought about it, but what happens if you can take a regular single coil pickup and connect a driver some how to each magnet in the pickup. Wouldnt that give the correct range of field to pick up the bent and normal string, as well as give infinate sustain. I am tired so if you have thought of that then im sorry, But i thought that would be a cool idea. But i dont know if the magnet will work like that for the sustainer.
  3. do you mean a CNC mill. You need to work with CAD programs, if it only cuts length and width and not depth than the free version of Turbo CAD should work. Then you put it in G Format, and send it to the machine. Thats how it works. I remeber if you search a little on CNC mills, there was a site that had a bunch of pre made CAD's. Take one of the guitars, take away what you dont need, conver to G, and put it in the CNC Mill. I might be a little off. Just trying to help.
  4. I like to build and understand how things work. I played guitar becuase i like music and the many diverse styles a guitar can have. Then i decided to try and build a guitar, which i am almost done with (Les Paul, but no digital camera to put on forums^_^ ). Also, i wanted to be knowledgable about what i use. It also saves me money for me to fix my guitar strings, tremelo, pickup height, ect. becuase i learned about how to build and how a guitar works.
  5. Any more places, i want to keep options open.
  6. does the match price include the case. Because i found a place that sells it for 1,300, but no case. Well it didnt mention, so i think there is no case.
  7. Oh, and my friends who play guitar only play guitar. I can play four instruments. but not trying to disagree with you. Its like i want to fit in a bit because i am the only one of my friends not to have a fender. jnewman your right. But Clapton did the same thing to create the blackie, but i know what your getting at. Change in plans, trying to go and save and work for 1, 500 dollars to get the guitar itself. I cant find plans, and instead of spending time searching for them, i might as well work and earn money to buy the real deal that i know is a professional sound. So does anyone know a place to buy the Eric Clapton Strat that is 1,300 or lower. Sorry for being snoby a bit, very tired last few days, projects due before spring break, Monkey
  8. Because im sick of my friends comparing their rich a$@ fender's up to my old Samick strat, and laughing. But my Samick as better tone than their strats, but thats becuase i suped it up over the summer. So thats why i want a fender. Im planning on spending about 200 on guitar, without electronics. And i think i might hit that goal. Fender's, not Squires, are at min 300-350 here in SoCal, the funny thing is that the best Fenders are made here in Corona, Ca., and they sell them more expensive here, than what i saw at other cities when i went through the MidWest to help my bro settle in at IU.
  9. he bought 6 strats. Gave three away, the other three he mixed and matched to form Blackie. Yes, i know the story. he bought them for about 300-400 each. Well then a Clapton style body. If someone just has the demensions i can get it CNCed.
  10. Exact fender strat. Standard or the Blackie, as in Eric Clapton's Blackie, body is great. I dont mind either one. I just want it to have the same shape. The electronics is all taken care of, from the old members might remeber i asked frequently about Blackie's electronics. I can paint the body too as well as get the headstock set up. I need just the body. Thanks, Monkey
  11. he said his are a little off. I might get it from him, but still want to find an exact copy, or a cheap fender strat body from a fender strat. I still cant find any.
  12. I agree, the mod and staff of pg make this place great. They are very helpful, and if people dont think its fair, they can go try and find another site that is better than this one, which i dont think there is. I have learned so much from PG and from the mods. The only thing i dont like was the ranting section they took down, but they took it down for a good cause. Man we had a lot of fun forum games there... Well keep up the GREAT work PG staff, Monkey
  13. Link dont work for we. Tell me what to type. Also, most ebay places will sell the squire bodies and will sell strat styles. Not the exact body. And when they are exact bodies they are usually high priced. But yet again the link does not work.
  14. Hi PG, Well i am looking for just the body of a fender stratocaster. Now, i want the exact body measurments as the fender strats, but i dont know if the squire bodies are the exact same. I tried to find out if they are, but no luck yet. Also i dont care if the body has paint on it or not, becuase im trying to make a Blackie guitar and i have paint to do so. I was wondering if anyone knows a good place to buy an exact copy or right of strat body for about $100 or down. Also, Brian if you read this, is your economical bodies the exact as the Fender's. Thanks, Monkey Please PM if you dont want others to know a site or something that you dont want other people going to.
  15. they are actually two pieces that are 1/8 each. Thanks for the info on them. I dont think ill start on a project like that for a year or two. I need to have more experience like you do.
  16. Hey PSW, This may be a little late but i noticed a good price at Radio Shack for rare earth magnets. And i know you do fiddle with them for your sustaining project. You probably already saw it, but maybe not. Letting you know that 1/4" pieces are like a $1.50. I thought it was a good deal. Just letting you know. Good luck and hopfully when LK is done, the effect will be great, great being and under-estament. Keep it up, Monkey
  17. Well its not that i had too much trouble, but its that when i played them, some times i would get the false harmonic and the string note all at once, or i would get the string not with very little harmonic sound. Now they scream. But i read that if you hold trhe pick like when you scoop a chip in a salsa, your middle and index finger together and your thumb on the otherside of the pick, that you can get them easier. But i tried the usual way becuase its a lot easier and faster to transition from normal playing to false harmonics. By the way, if there is something that other people finally got after practice, post it here. You should feel good about you accomplishments and people should know that you worked to get that lick, technique, or other skill down. Thanks, Monkey
  18. I got my false (pinch) harmonics down. It has taken me like 3 months to get them down perfectly. Finally. Just letting people know that when you work har at a technique you will eventually reach it. Thanks and good luck with your playing, Monkey
  19. My teacher taught me the major penatonic scale first. then integrated the blues scale into that. Then taught me I-IV-V with the 12 bar blues. And then taught me the bar and 7th chords.

  21. Going back to Wes's post. Its my high school robotics team. And i was elected, not hired. So no labor laws interfere. Its like a student government over robotics. a lot of team have them. I do the right thing, becuase the first question is the one that comes up the most of them all. I cant waist money becuase it costs thousands of dollars each year for me team to go to two regional tournements and build the robot with the kit and machined metal. If i had more we would go to Nationals in Georgia, but cant. So we are tight on money so we can go to places, and if lucky save some money for tight spots later or to save to get to Nationals next year. I got the MAd magazine CDs that came out a few years ago. From like the first issue to like 1998 or something like that. They even play the old vinyls the magazine occasionally had. They are great. Im laughing as i think about one of those songs, Monkey
  22. Ha. Im sorry for laughing, but i get stuff like that in robotics. But with a whole inventory of stuff. Since i became the youngest executive on my team (treasurer exec position) i have people asking me three questions for everything: 1. Can i have some money to buy this part? 2. Where can i get this part? 3. How much does the part cost? My answers: 1. Do we NEED the part for the robot, or can we make it/ 2. the store depending on type of product 3. LOOK IT UP. and if they are too bussy i give them some money, but estamate a little short to piss them off a few times. Well when i feel they deserve the punishment. When i give them a few short, they need to use some of their own money to buy it. Then they have to go through the trouble of getting their money back through me. Revenge is sweet. The people i do this too are only the ones who piss me off by not working and just shoot things from a metal tube hooked to the compressed air all day. I feel you pain, just not as much. Monkey
  23. Keep up the good work. Plus i want to see what new things you will put into the LEviathans in the inlay and paint jobs. Good luck with the work load, Monkey
