  1. why not justtreat the trhough neck as a very very long neck tennon? any way even if you do what you are suggesting are you not going to have a very short fingerboard? And why 38? I don't think I could even play that with my tiny arms!
  2. I used to have long hair but it was very curly so it never looked that long.
  3. I like the ripples in a pond effect you got going there! Infact considering I am not a fan of quilted/rippled etc guitar tops I really like it!
  4. you look wonderful tonight by eric clapton? Beatle is a good idea, something they know!
  5. :D And Snapping Nuts in half is never a good thing ( sorry man had to) I agree that is a nice bass I like it!
  6. I set my strat bridge flush with the body with 4 springs (i use 11s) and its bsically a fixed bridge but will dive when I want it to! then I lost the arm! currently using a screw driver!
  7. wow this is really heating over nothing isn't it? Are we all forgetting how easy it is to miss read the jist of what someone is trying to say on the forums?
  8. also because bass sounds horrible distorted with a few exceptions! asnd human hearing is not desigend to pick up low frequency well so its need to put our a higher spl to be heard at a similar perceived volume. surely forum etiquette is netiquette?
  9. aslong as its stable I can't imagine it will affect the sound in anyway you'd notice. You get some acoustic guitars with way more damage than that afterall nice mandolin by the way
  10. Now you are speaking my language... But in reality I can do that with my Engl... well by carrying out a series of experiments I shall research what is better a bass or guitar. now to find a guineapig hopefully I won't have to use an actual guineapig
  11. I dunno wes getting a girl to sit on a massive bass rig while you jamb out some serious low frequency..... best use of a stringed instrument?
  12. I saw one like that! then I passed it! Welcome to the site by the way footstool maker! I see one flaw in your marketing campaign. This is a guitar building site many people here have access to wood offcuts and all the tools necessary to... make their own I have never used a stool (I thought the only use was for monkey entertainment or possbily fertilising... sorry ) but it looks nice! And just one more I can't resist... I'd be quite proud if I produced a foot stool I may even take a picture!
  13. If you don't relly know what you'd want start with a strat with a flush mounted vibrato unit
  14. I've done a bit of resawing with an actual re-saw but I like hand tools
  15. mexican breed that just goes to show that floyd rose doesn't know what tremolo is either! it IS a vibrato. or a Whammy
  16. ITS NOT A BLOODY TREMOLO ITS A VIBRATO! apart from that, what mexican breed said is right you either want a vibrato or you don't want a vibrato it depends what you play and even then it depends what you want it for I hae guitars with all different types of bridges but no floyd and know bigsby, I'd like a bigsby not fussed either way on a floyd but it could be fun i guess! could vote for either because i don't beleive either
  17. I have to ask, sorry. Why are classical guitarsĀ“fretboards flat? I played one for some time and given the required position of the hands relative to the legs and all, it is more comfortable. And, in classical music you spend a lot of time playing chords, and almost none pulling the strings. I thought that was one of the reasons. its the thicker strings under much less tension they are easy to barre without the curve. I think...
  18. what is the radius for? to me it helps fretting barre chords in high tension steel strings.
  19. I was just thinking to myself that it ws better than the average question asked here and then I read the second post while we are at it ,I'm ?!!!!!!, surely if you want to be perfect it should be I am?
  20. me! I hate those maverick controls they are bleugh do they even make them anymore I can't think when I last saw one in a guitar shop mind you its been a while since I've been in one! and I like to use the little finger technique occasionally aswell!
  21. is it definately the right size by that I mean width height and memory. thats all i've got sorry
  22. heres one for you pete! How about iinstead of mounting the driver on the guitar giving it a lead and being able to remove it and use it as an ebow. if you see what I mean ?
