  1. How about this for a score: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jchrisf/guitar.html I was looking at those $369 RG570s and just happened to visit when they had a Blem model listed for $240. It has a paint chip on the bottom corner by the input jack and is scrapped around the 6th string fine tuner. That's all I can find and it plays great. I love it! It's beautiful too, the pics don't do it justice at all but you can see how the lighting changes the look of the Rootbeer Metallic paint.

    Jem body

I've seen them on some of the sponser sites either here or at the jemsite for about the same price new. But we'll see if anybody here get's it
  3. diver

    which one?

I didn't know that.. Thanks!!! This will work good on my RG470 too right?
  4. You know, I don't really like the paint job on the 7D but the 7V is great... I can't find a used 7V for under $1000 like they are selling on MF... seems like a great deal... If I didn't like it I could sell it for more than I paid for it
  5. Funny you should say that... I was thinking about getting the Tone Zone for my Charvel Model 2 but then got the 470 and decided to focus on it. Also, Queensryche is my favorite band and I know Michael Wilton uses the JB on his custom ESPs. I love his tone... dang, this is a hard decision
  6. All I know is that it's the thinnest neck I've played (I have a Squire Strat like Jehle's and a 87' Charvel Model 2). Actually, it feels perfect whatever it is.. so I guess that is what counts. I don't have a Trem Bar to really test the Lo-Trs on this thing but it will stay in tune for a week playing it as is. I'm kinda hoping to find out that it stays in tune when I use the bar too!
  7. Yeah, the neck pocket on the body says RG470 but the base of the neck itself says RG550R #2. Also, the guitar has a Lo-TRS bridge which was used on Japan made 470 back in 97'. The serial does start with "F" but if it came with a different body then I can assume the Lo-TRS tells me the body was also made in Japan. If this is a Wizard neck.. then I basically have a 570 except for the bridge. This could make the JEM conversion a little less expensive and worth it
  8. Well, as you can see by my dive flag Wes.. diver stands for scuba diver. Although I love Vivian Cambell on the Holy Diver album. Yes, I think that pickup will be too hot. So far I've decided on the Breed at the neck like the Dimarzio tech recommended but still don't know about the middle and bridge pups. Probably a virtual vintage or HS3 in the middle and maybe a breed in the neck too. Brian's got the best deals around on the Breeds except it stinks that I've got to pay sales tax because I live in Florida I'm still thinking on it.
  9. Hehe... I want to keep mine S-S-S. What do you all think about this option?: http://www.carvin.com/cgi-bin/Isearch.exe?...2=AG1W&P1=GTR/K When did you route that bridge pup Jehle.. recently or way back when you were younger? With all those mods it must be a great guitar to stand up to all the torture.
  10. I like the one you say is "Pretty Cool" the best. I saw Michael Angelo playing one of these on a video and it looked and sounded great!: http://www.traditionguitars.com/MA2.htm Hey, while cleaning my RG470 today I removed the neck and found a marking on the base of the neck that said RG550R #2. Does this mean I have a Wizard neck from a 550 on my 470? That'd be great because I got this off ebay for $175.
  11. Thx.. I'll post something down there now. That's a cool looking guitar Wes... heavy price tag too
  12. Great tune Jehle! What pups are you using in this guitar? I'm also assuming you routed the bridge pup area to fit that Humbucker?
  13. Thanks for the comments. I'll probably look around a little more and maybe an even better price will come around. I can tell your an honest guy Brian. Wes, what guitar grabs your enthusiasm? BTW Brian, do you sell trem bars for my RG470? It is a Japan made 470 from 97 with a regular TRS Trem Bridge.
  14. Thanks again for the info Jehle. Sorry you missed the guys from GAS and GT on your trip to England.
  15. What do you guys think about these deals? http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/search...610715763579387 & http://www.music123.com/item/?itemno=55981 I really want a JEM but if the RG570 is a better deal.. I might start with this route. However, I do have a 97' RG470. Would it just be best to upgrade everything and have Brian convert it to a JEM style for me? Thanks
  16. Hey, thanks for the reply's.. this place is great I'm learning so much. I mostly play 80's style metal but I also like the new neo-classical stuff. Plus I want to use the guitar to play clean so I am just looking for a very versatile pickup combination. Having a H-S-H style guitar will give me I wide range of options if I use the right pups.
  17. I'm looking to replace the stock pickups in my RG470. I want a versatile arrangement so I can play all styles of music but I mostly play metal. Any recommendations? The tech at Dimarzio suggested Breeds in the neck and bridge and HS3 in the middle. Thanks!
  18. How satisfied are you with your new and improved Squire Strat? I can't find the link to that project on your website.
  19. Hey thanks for the reply's... I'm glad to hear it is alder... because I had heard rumors that it could be press-board. Thanks for the info on the StewMac neck too. What a great place.. you guys know your stuff. You must have gotten hooked on seeing the guys/gals from GAS in England if you have already returned? Did you hook up with Brian over there? Brian, what are you doing in Europe?
  20. I believe I will have to drill two holes on the corners because that 3rd hole is in the middle. Can anyone tell me if this guitar body is made out of maple or plywood? I'm trying to figure out if it is worth being a project guitar. Hey Brian, is this your site? Good job if so.. I was glad to see your practically a neighbor because I am in Deland. I just recently fell in love with Ibanez guitars so I'm glad to see you do a lot of work with Ibanez...
  21. Hey Jehle, I stumbled across this site after getting an Ibanez RG470 and finding links to it from www.jemsite.com. This is a great site with a lot of information. I had seen your site before after spending some time at the Guitar Techniques forum. I have an 83' Squire Strat that looks exactly like yours. I want to make it a project guitar and was wondering where I can get a nice maple neck with jumbo frets that will fit it (3 hole). Also, do you know if the body is made of Maple? Mine is very heavy and has a great paint job.. they did a good job on these Squires back in 83'. Thanks,
