  1. Before I start, can anybody tell me of the quality of mighty mite pickups?? I hear mixed things?? Ok, now I have a black flat top les paul. Pretty new. I want to put new pickups in, change the rear cavity covers to cream (They're black, but mounting rings are cream. Change the jack plate to cream too. I'm thinking about adding a pickguard, but would that work on a flat top?? I'd want one with a bracket. Oh, and is it worth the time and effort to rewire and shield the electronics?? I'd like to get rid of some feedback. Thanks
  2. I'd like to put a new top on my damaged accoustic, so how would I do that?? I'd like to salvage the rest of it..
  3. Oh, it's gonna be for a tube amp. Can't you build a switch so you can switch it from 8 to 16 as you please?? Cause it's gonna be 1 of the 2.
  4. What's the difference between 16 and 8 ohms?? Because I'm going to be building a marshall 4 X 12 clone pretty soon, with 25W greenbacks. I wanted to know which one would be better.. I'm going for a hendrix, jimi page, pete townshend type thing. Thanks, and yes I will have my earplugs ready.
  5. Or know a place with specs and stuff?? I already searched too.
  6. Wow, those are some very clean and wild looking guitars. I'm not surprised though, You have some of the best work on this site. Good job and keep it up man, nice woods too.
  7. Yeah, I guess you guys knocked some sense into me. I'm definately gonna do it, thanks.
  8. I'm gonna be redoing my les paul, kinda, just shielding it better, rewiring it (Kinda sucks), putting new pickups in. I was thinking about putting push/pull knobs rigged up to split the coils. Can you really tell, and is it worth it to do it?? Or is it just a pain in the butt??
  9. My late uncle knew billy corgan, he's actually a really cool guy and I like his singing.
  10. If you don't know them, then check out rocket and zero
  11. Yeah, it's a set just like a custom, not like zakk wyldes, where the inlays aren't quite block. And the inlays do start at the 1st, so its 22.
  12. I'd say moderate figuring. If you look at it straight on you just see white with a little swirl, but if you look at it from an angle you get all these great greens, blues and slight reds. Not like all green, just a nice tint to it. It's a 10 piece set, and I don't feel like figureing if its 22 or 24, never really thought of that, but it's 10 pieces. Again, there are some SLIGHT nicks in 2 or 3, but should come out in radiusing, and if they don't they'll be too small to notice really anyway. I'm not sure how to ship them, so I'll probably tape them to a board or something, if anybody's got a good way I'm all ears. Thanks for lookin Oh yeah, I'm also looking for a marshall plexi with a basketweave cab, I think that's a fair trade for my inlays
  13. Real nice set, on one there is a scratch, but should come out when you radius it. On another there is a little pattern different thing, but again should come out when it's radiused. Make me an offer, it's real pearl too. White, no abalone or anything. Will maybe make trades, I don't really know what you could trade for it though. I'm looking for 2 double creme pickups...... So maybe a partial trade or something for that, or cash is king too. Oh yeah, I'd be willing to trade for a broken acoustic too. I've been wanting one, and I've seen some sell for $20, so..............
  14. 2 things. 1 ENTER IT IN GOTM!!!!! 2. Yes zeppelin is kings among men. I love them so much man, I'm glad you like them too. Rock on for life.
  15. That's cool man, I hope it comes out good for you!
  16. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=guit.../base_id/45157/ What type of rosewood is on the bottom guitar?? It looks cool, and I would like to use it.
  17. Oh, I'm going to put a half pickguard on, like the sg version of the les paul pickguard. But I still want to do the channel, it's a really good idea. You gave your headstock a 17 degree angle?? I'll do that too I guess. Thanks a bunch, I think I'm ready to start now. A few more days to clear up some stuff, then it's on to the fretboard. You'll be the first one to see it...
  18. Hey, the ampeg amp. Have you ever played it through a guitar?? How does it sound. And do you have a "ball park" range of what you want for it?
  19. Yeah, I agree about trying to glue both at the same time wouldn't work probably. I also hear what you're saying about routing the humbucker, and the wire channel. I probably wouldn't have thought of that. I'll just have to make sure it's the EXACT place the pickups are supposed to be. It could get ugly if it was off just a little. So you just nailed on the piece that was going to get cut/planed?? That seems simple enough. And how much did your neck blank cost?? I just want to know because it's thicker than I was planning....
  20. Yeah, I understand the neck angle enough to do a 2.5 degree. I'm not gonna start a shop or anything. And I've also heard good things about that book and would like to pick up a copy. So, you just glue the blanks at a 2.5 degree angle. Plane the back and front so they're flush with each other. Trim the top to fit around the fretboard very carefully, glue, route, and that's all to the body?? I think I got it. Did you have trouble making sure you glued them at the exact angle??
  21. Oh, okay that carving picture really helped me out. Just keep the carve even and flat?? I can do that. And cutting the top around the fretboard, I thought you meant to cut the ACTUAL fretboard before. I didn't know what you were talking about. Yeah, cutting the top to fit the fretboard is gonna be pretty tough. I will cut it very carefully. I just now understood your drawing of the whole guitar. The dotted line is the neck blank. Yeah, now I see you make the wings 1/2" less thick, but not the blank. I don't think it will be that much of an angle though, but I know that's not to scale just as an example. Thanks a ton dude, I don't know what I would've done before. I'm kind of a dunce. Thanks for taking the time to draw pictures and stuff. You know in movies when theres a slow guy and the person talking to him finally says "What do you want me to do, draw you a picture??" You drew the picture. I don't know if that was easy to understand or not. Thanks again P.S. How is the neck angle different than a Paul?? Cause I got one of those I can relate to, I got no sg.
  22. Maybe a little more clamps too?? Lookin good though. Theres also a bump on the left side of the body to, that looks odd.
  23. Yeah, that's like mine but it's a flat top and it has klusons. What ARE you going to do with the old pickups though?? I got a friend who might want to buy them if you're interested. And no, this "Friend" is not me. lol
  24. I don't know what you mean by the bottom line of the mahogany?? I will also make the neck 1/2" less, no?? And the thing about cutting the fingerboard, I don't understand either. I'm kinda slow, so please forgive my ignorance. on the bevels you just make sure your top is still flat, except for what you're carving?? With a straight edge. Doesn't seem too hard, it's just hard for me to think of..
