    Yeah, well he is giving me 1000 bucks for supplys and what i dont use on supplys i keep for myself he said so i just want to make sure i make a bad ass bass for him.

    A buddy of mine wants me to custom build him a new bass, i have the wood and everything picked out to make this the mother of all projects. But i started wondering how different is building basses then guitars? I can build guitars good (least from what im told when people play mine) so any help would be great.

    Well, a lot of work was done today. I cut out that 2nd V body for the next project (yeah all ready preparing for the next one) plus i got a lot done on my maple neck. I got a out of rounding over done, then realized that the amount of wood there was not enough for a decent heel (some of you may remember my theard about heels on necks) so i got a scrap piece of birdseye and glued it on. Tomarrow i will go back, finish the heel off and possible get the whole neck rounded over. I will keep you posted

    Man do i feel ya, i had a similar experence. My old guitar teacher at school was best friends with the owner of one of the gibson factories back east. I should him my work and he loved it. He contacted the guy at Gibson to send me back there for a few months so i could learn everything and help gibson out. Well, the guy totally loved the idea and said he would pay for everything (travel expences and everything) well summer was coming, i kept asking him to call him back but he ended up moving before i could ask him one more time...... Yeah, im still regreting that....

    Yeah man it no problem. Im sorry to hear about your mom too, and ur right is should have taken things into my own hands and tested different possibliltys out. Im just not that good of a electric wire person (lol), so i was scared to just try something so i thought i'd ask to be sure do i dont screw things up even more.

    I have a lite hum that get worse when my tone is up when its down it completely gone. But anytime i touch any metal on the guitar (pickup covers, tailpiece, bridge) the hum also goes away with the tone up? My tom bridge isnt grounded ( dont know if they need to be) but that is the only thing i can think of. Input please?

    Haha, yeah its the stucko on my ceiling man lol. That finish is the mirror front i made out of mirror acrylic.

    I got my neck cut down to size so it fits in the neck pocket, i just need to finish rounding it all over and its done. I say some body blanks sitting there that i had glued up a while ago and started another V body out. Its going to be the guitar im making for my girlfriend. So ill post some pics and specs as i get that going.

    Hey Leave Oak out this , I beleave That Oak is A great tone Wood!! Rember Brian May? ok good Now Think what Was his guitar Made from That's Right Oak! Lace wood (Anothe type of Oak)Is used all over guitar's Im useing Oak and Lace wood On two builds in fact Im useing Both Oak and Lace wood On one body! !!METAL MATT!! ← Yeah i know oak is alright. But im just talking about how cheap it is and cmon, least around here it is. Im just saying compared to other woods... Actually i dont know what i was trying to say lol. Sorry if i offened anyone lol.

    If wood doesnt effect tone then we would all have oak or mdf (mdf is madr from saw dust) guitars cause its so common lol. Even guitar companies use differents for different tones. Says so on many guitar sites.

    I found that it will work as a rounter just dont get really carried away with how deep you cut, dont try to do it all in one pass. Take little little passes and it works great. I only use it in places where my big router is too bulky and will tip or wont stay flat.

    Yeah i just got done doing somemore work with it and it took a little while to get used to (new tool and all) but once i got the hang of it it was great. I love it, great buy, and yeah it does have the angle grinder.

    Well, i was looking around sears and picked up this. Its like a miny router type thing, least thats what im using it for. It has a lot of crap that came with it too. I can use it for just about anything at all. The thing i love most is it came with this cord thing that converts it into a dremal. Now i can do my own inlays!!!! woo hooo. I just used it for like 5 min, im going to use it more in just a little bit but im waiting for the sun to go down just a little bit more its really really hot out side lol.

    What bits would be used with one of these to get an exact copy of a neck? As do u guys use drimils with them or routers?

    While we are on the subject of truss rods, in your guys opinion what is the ultimate truss rod for ultra thin necks?

    dude spend it, and save urself the hassel, u will spend more on paint and clear then that anyway.
