You got it right....1" thick with no taper, U-shaped. USACG does not offer U-shape on their 1" necks it is more of a C-shape. Very similiar, but with less shoulders.

Thank you for the instructions. However the rod they have at the hardware store is threaded all the way. Does that matter? It shouldn't right? BTW...great tip to use the hammer to peen over the ends.

I'm about to build a neck and was planning on making a truss rod like this one; How do I install it later? Does it need some kind of casing or do I secure it with the wood filler? Does it matter if the entire truss rod is threaded?

Just registered after lurking around here off and on.... I'm a 30 year old Swede working in Norway but living in Chile. Started two builds, both are going to be made from Chilean native wood and Bolivian rosewood. One chambered T-style and one chambered Tele/Gib hybrid. Don't really have the time or appropriate tools but I just have this urge to build. Is there a Download section where one could get templates and blueprints?
