  1. Thanks man, I guess it's time to put some money aside.
  2. Hey Maiden, Thanks for the reply, I like your work. Yeah I have already sanded back some of the center section to lighten it back up and give more contrast to the burst. I have plenty of sealer on there so sanding is no problem. I don't have an air brush but I'm considering one now. Can you offer any suggestions to the unitiated on airbrushes. Makes, models, size, horsepower etc... Thanks again.
  3. This is my first attempt at the poor boy burst as described by Brian Calvert. I'm not sure yet if I am happy or not. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/Blu...os/DSC00327.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/Blu...os/DSC00330.jpg

  6. Ok, here are some pics. It was a gloss black Jackson Dinky body. I used the tutorial from Brian Calvert and went with an obviously 80's metal themed look. This is with one coat of brushed on S&S after first trimming of the fabric. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/Blu...os/DSC00324.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/Blu...os/DSC00324.jpg
  7. I started my fabric top project yesterday with a Jackson Dinky body from e bay. Got the stripping and sanding done last night and this morning. Got the fabric mounted tonight as well as first coat of S&S. So far it looks really good. I'll have pics tommorow.
  8. Thanks to everyone who had some input into this. You answered my question and then some.
  9. well...I'll be wet sanding the clear coat over a fabric top. The will be long gone under the fabric so I guess it doesn't matter? O rodes it. Thanks for your help so far guys.
  10. I'm sorry for asking this but I really couldn't find it in a search. When wet sanding, do you still sand in a linear fashion or circular. . Thanks.
  11. Rich Haris at Ibanez Rules .comshould be the First stop for you.
  12. Thank you Brian...I did some trial runs with two different fabrics on some scrap I had lying around. I got some good results, and a decent gloss. My body will be here in a few days. I'm doing a Jackson Dinky body topped with a cream colored fabric with black Japanese Kanji chracters printed on it. Then a soft poor boys burst in black to finish it off. I've got my fingers crossed. This will be my first project. Thanks again.
  13. Wow...lotta of lookers...no responders. Just looking for some friendly advice. At this point I'll settle for some un friendly advice.
  14. Hello everyone, I am getting ready to start a fabric top project and will do the headstock as well. My question is when to put the logo down. Should there be a couple of coats of clear on the fabric, polished, then the logo with more clear? Thanks in advance for any assistance on this. Happy New Year.
