  1. saw this in a thread over at harmony-central harmony-central.com/forums/ making a new maple neck look old by staining the clear coat with shoe polish. i think it looks pretty good, any reason why i shouldn't do this? 1. new neck 2. cover the sucker in shoe polish link 3. et voila, instant vintage link Please limit picture posting to one Pic per post, links to the others, except in the In progress and finished work section . Just a friendly reminder MK
  2. thanks for all the replies guys, i'll let you know how it turns out
  3. thanks for the replies. its an '87 squier bullet, rosewood fretboard, no idea about the finish. i've been given the neck and body free, it needs a refret so i thought i'd teach myself how to do it on a guitar that it won't matter if i balls it up. its covered in about 20 years worth of crap though so i want to see if the neck is worth saving before i go ahead and start refretting it.
  4. ... do i need to use anything specific. i'd just go ahead with washing up liquid but i don't want to damage the wood. thanks.
  5. we use that in the bodyshop of the vw dealer i work at. we get it supplied from here: www.carlac.co.uk
  6. thanks for the reply, the photoshop route would've been my last resort but it seems like i might have to do it, it won't be too hard. its slightly different from strat or recent bullet-strat scratchplates as it doesn't have the usual separate jack socket, its on the scratchplate itself and there's only two knobs.
  7. i need to make a scratchplate for an 80s squier bullet, is there anywhere you guys know where i can download a template? i've been given a body and neck and i want to put a humbucker i've got lying around into it. i'd buy a cheap one and draw round it but since its not that common a guitar i can't find one anywhere. anyone got one and want to draw me a template from it?
