Well, I think it's the balance between the 2 pickups...
I mean... a 1kohm difference between the 2 is not much as far as output goes, but the difference between the output from a neck pickup to a bridge pickup is very different...
What I mean is I get about the same volume in my SD equipped guitar with the neck 59' (at around 8 kohm) and the bridge Custom 5 (around 14 kohm)
So I think it could be that...

Wow, that's really amasing, especially that she actually bought yours back!!
-
Why don't you try the Seymour Duncan tube pedal thingie? (SFX-03 twin tube classicâ„¢)
I heard it was really good and smaller than all those tube overdrive pedals...
-
We've just actually hit it!! (6001 to be exact!)
Thats great news!

Well, I'm pretty sure that might be of interest to some of you,
A coil winding machine on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.ca/COIL-WINDER-COIL-WINDIN...1QQcmdZViewItem
Looks like it's an old machine, but it might be worth it for the price...

I think a low B is a good way to get a cool effect with... If you have a C to play, instead of playing it with the A string, you can go with the B string and it sound just cooler...
A good example of this, I think, is Another Brick In The Wall... Play the D on the B string and you'll see what I mean...

I'd like to know how much you'd want for only the ctrl-x preamp?? Because I alredy have a piezo bridge, but finding/building a preamp is kinda hard lol
-
I recommend that technique too... Recently, I've been trying to get it, since a lot of players do that and it's a good skill to have as a guitarist... And Stairway to Heaven is also a really good practice at doing that!
Anyways, good luck.
-
Would you mind showing an exemple of the result?
-
How exactly did you get your route that square? With a chisel i guess?
-
I think all the colors would work with that color... Black would be quite original, actually! And gold would work a lot too!
Anyways, I voted black because we don't often see turquoise guitars with black hardware
-
Intonation is also changed by the strings you use... There's just too many variables for it to be possible to calculate VERY accurately.
IMHO most acoustics aren't perfectly intonated, either...
-
Well, you did a VERY nice job on this one!! Only thing is the bridge kinda looks out of place right now... Dunno what it'll look like for real, but it doesn't fit with the design and colors of the wood...
-
Actually, I think you should leave it natural.
I think the pale color of the ash looks great to contrast with the nice vivid colors of the neckthrough. I think it will look even better finished with something like oil...
-
Well, you could have a preamp in front of it to make it line level, no?
-
-
Well, I kinda do like the idea of having a headstock like that... Though I'd use a floyd tension bar thingie instead or string trees.
But then again, in what way is it really better than a Thorn?
-
Yeah, I would highly recommend a pacifica...
I had the luck of having a weird rare (but damn grat) floyd equipped guitar as my first...
But since my brother played guitar as well, we had a PAC-112X too... Sold it since then, but it was a really nice guitar actually... Sounded real good, too.
3 piece alder body with a trans finish as far as I remember...

1. I don't think practicing on PCBs will help a lot in a guitar... It's all pretty much point to point wireing, and even I can do it... (I'm not good by any standard.)
2. No idea really
3. A shielding kid is basically a way to reduce noise by making a Faraday cage... Most guitars are alredy shielded, but you could browse the web, there are MANY tutorials on how to shield a guitar...
4. I'd think a jack on a regular strat would be good... I say change it if it makes noise when you move your guitar cord.
-
Well, I do like the other thinlines as well, but I would ditch out the neck pickup and put something like a P90 in place... Would go much better with the hollow body anyways.
-
lol...
Well, I'd defenitely like the southern nitefly if I was into country Esp with that beautiful 1 piece swamp ash body...
Anyways, the only telecaster I'd ever consider is the 72'(?) thinline... Yknow the one with the weird split humbuckers?
I think the telecaster design is lacking somthing without that F-hole!
Anyways, I still like telecasters more than any strat lol
-
I think it's a shame you haven't stuck with the veneer... I really like the way the carve looked with the spanish cedar under it!
Have you tought of using some type of other wood for veneer? Something like bubinga or zebrawood or something... It would look good, I think.
-
Well, I say woods are important too!
I don't think a mahogany telecaster will sound very tele-like
-
What if it were the liquid that was ferro-magnetic? That could work somehow??
Anyways, That's VERY interesting... 2 mags that do a piezo's job and a mag under the fretboard... Awfully weird as far as usual acoustic pickups go, but if it's taylor, then it must sound good, there's no other way...
