  1. yup its like $1 a bottle worked ok to me. the color i used was pickup ring creame. i didnt bother trying to match the flame orange on the body(its bare wood now i might put some clear coat on). black should be very easy to match they sell tons of different shades. i did 4 coats, each applied very thinly so u dont get those nasty brush marks. Another tip is gets some of the narrow blue painters tape by 3m i believe, and tape around the area your painting. Adam
  2. i moded a les paul and had to fill the switch and two pot holes. i went to home depot they sell these wooden dowels in all different sizes and wood tye. i foundd one a little bigger then the holes that need to be filled and cut it down to the right hieght. i lightly sanded the dowels to a snug fit then used a rubber mallet to inserty them.. turned out really well in my opinion with no need for glue or anything. As far as matching the finish i went to the craft store and bough paint that match the finish pretty close. keep in mind the holes on mine were about 1/4" diameter in my case the paint worked fine.
  3. yeah im fully aware of the risks, and ive got plenty experience spraying, what the heck? you think just because it says newbie under my avater im stupid? pretty insulting.......I am fairly new to bass and guitar building, but automotive paint and body ive done for years....ive got adequate respiration and a spray booth.... sick as a dog is far an understatement, try irreversible nervous system and kydney damage.....but im sure you knew that, being a "semi retired professional" and all, the fact is i didnt ask about the effects it has on my body because I ALREADY KNOW THAT!!! Thank you for looking out for my "well being" but could someone please answer my orginal question please? ← someones a little hostile.

  13. where can i get thread inserts and machine screws that will work with an electric?
  14. Ok, here are the questions I think we need to know the answers to before we can help you. 1: Do you have a body this is already going onto? If so, what is it? 2: Are you intending to take a standard Fender neck and then just make it longer so that it extends further into the body of the guitar but has a shallower heel? 3: Do you realise that PRS don't normally use bolt-on necks, they use set necks? 4: Do you realise that if you're using a bolt on neck, there's not really much point extending the neck tenon further into the body, because you're not gluing it, and unless it's a REALLY snug fit, won't do anything for the tone? 5: Do you realise that it's really frustrating for us when people don't spell words properly? I hate to be a grammar snob, but seriously, it's like reading a text message on my mobile. ← yes i have a body. the neck pocket has not been routed yet. ive actually decided to go with an epiphone special 2 neck as i was advised its a better neck then the one i was buying for $140 from stewmac. from the guy i bought the body (ebay)He will be routing the neck pocket for me and carving down the heel for me. anyone know the guy im talking about his names Dave and hes from michigan. he does pretty nice work from what Iv seen.
  15. nah saga kit is out of the question lol wont look to nice next to my other guitars. heres exactly what im trying to build. a prs style bolt in neck(as pictured on the page i linked to). the idea i had was to cut about 1/4" off the bottom of a strat heel and then glue a piece of the same type of wood only longer to form the exstension, like on the prs bolt in necks. would this work
  16. and they're not f-shaped, but sort of c-shaped. But I think it's good work so far. Keep us updated! ← will do im finalizing the type of neck im using tonight im very excited about this guitar lol.
