  1. hi recently acquired a prs standard 24 with a cracked neck. by the way its a set neck. the guy i got it from fixed it himself( did a bad job put so much glue the truss rod doesnt adjust anymore). so what are my options. i was thinking i could remove the frett board and fix the truss rod. What do reccomend as far as the neck actually being cracked? id love to just get a new neck. Anyone know where i cam purchas a set neck or have any repair ideas?

    thanks, Adam

  2. There would only be a problem if you didn't have enough room to wind the string around the post. Obviously, if you're using locking tuners and can access the string hole, you shouldn't have any problems. You're using locking tuners, right?

yeah schaller m6 locking. i was considering biying the grover locking tuners stewmac sells though, the posts are actually longer then the original prs posts. i assume that would have no effect on tunning and sound as well.

  3. does the tunner post hieght effect wether the guitar will stay in tune or how it sounds?

for example if i replaced the tuners on a prs ce 24 with a set of tunners with shorteter post (string holes completeley accessible) would that make a difference? essentially the strings would be closer to the headstock with the shorter post tunners.

  5. The Grovers should do the trick for you then.  Easy to use and traditional looking.

But make sure the holes are the right size first.  :D

actually the schaller m6 are the excact match. so now i have to decide wether i want locking or standard tuners. the m6 are the standard tuners or i can get a set of prs phase II locking tuners (currently used by prs on ce's). the price difference is about $30 m6 vs prs

  6. I put grover locking tuners on all my guitars...I like the minis though, they're lighter weight too. They're also less expensive than the other brands, and work just as well.

But I'm curious as to why you want to change your tuners, if you already have locking tuners?

It's not like one brand works better than the others, when it comes to locking tuners, that is.

Weird though...I've changed the tuners on six guitars, and not once have I had an issue with the height of the tuners.

i dont like the wing back prs t unners kinda hard to change the strings, im lookking for a more traditional looking tuner. the grovers looks good though.

  7. hi i have a prs ce24 from 1997 with the wing back locking tuners. i d like to replace them but have not had much luck. i tried the following tuners: schaller m6 locking, schaller m6 mini, and some gotohs from an ibanez. in all thre instances the tuner posts are to short( well shorter then the original tuners). Can anyone reccommend a suitable replacement for the original prs tuners?

    thanks, Adam

  8. Looks like the 'defect' you mentioned is just some wear and tear from the previous owner's arm resting there. Things like that should be expected when buying a used guitar. Does the neck feel bowed? Does the action reflect a bowed neck? Is there any fret buzz. You're giving us very little to work on here. I think you're getting really paranoid about this thing. You bought it, you live with it. It seems like you got a good deal.

the finish issue i was not refdferin to the dings. i ment the circlur pattern is that a finish error or the grain of the wood?

    thanks, adam

  9. It looks real to me, but I was under the impression that PAul have been using compensated nuts on his guitar for about a decade or more now? That one looks like a regular.  Other than that, you can check the SN on the PRS site or e-mail them...

im not surec what a copensated nut is but the left siide is hiogger then the right on the ce.

    thanks, Adam

  10. Looks fine bar the pickups. but do me a favour, put the original pickups back in. Gibson pickups in a PRS..... pffftttt.... what's the world coming to?

Hope you enjoy the guitar :D

    :D

i plan on it once i get some more cash and going back to the 5way prs switch. holidays put a drain on the funds. i plan on puting the gibson pickups in my epiphone les paul standard.

    thanks adam

  11. It all looks prefectly legit to me... why get all worried without any cause?  The guy has good feedback, the listing and photo look genuine - why are you concerned?!?

i heard theirs alot of fraud on ebay involving prs guitars. another prs i bid on was puulled for fraud. im paranoid by nature too i guess,

    thanks, Adam

  12. Looks real to me except for ONE thing... don't CE24s usually come with non-covered pickups (however, this is a slightly old guitar... so they maybe USED to come with covered? don'tk now?)

But hell, might be after market, etc. Looks good to me. If you're afraid, get it and I'll trade you my dinged up metalic purple PRS CE22 for it lol.

    Chris

THE ELECTRICS ARE NOT THE ORIGINAL. THEIR GIBSON PICKUPS ACTUALLY. besides that how does it look. im worried its a dillion or another brand of cheap knock offs.

    thanks, Adam

  13. billy joel armstrong is a terrible guitarist. the bass player is scary looking,, looks like a pedaphile. there music is crap but compared to sopme of the other stuff today its tolerable. in perspective 10 years ago i hated greenday, now if its on the radio imght listen to it based on the fact that i could finf worse. i would never by a cd of theirs. though. all their songs sound the same.

  14. Here's a schematic of several tone control configurations - wire up your fav, and wire the terminal illustrated to the switch lug.

    tone_ctrls.png

For a volume, wire the CW pot lug to the switch lug, the CCW lug to ground, and the wiper to the output jack.

i have no idea what that means. ois my version correct though?

  15. What kind of "great deal" do you think you'll get here? That can be the only reason(as far as i can tell) that you'd have some random person on a forum make it as opposed to a pro. Word to the wise: you get exactly what you pay for.

talk about cheessy. another great place he could try is ed roman he seems to specilize in situations like this.

  16. im kind partial to the prs pickups, especially the mccarty's popped a pair in an epiphone lp standard sounds a 1000x better. i also have a pair of schaller golden 50's w/ covers . havent got around to installing them yet, but but there good enogh for trey anastasio of phish who's sound is amazing. the pearly gates mentioned above are also nice i was gonna put em in a sg project but ended up selling the body instead. warren haynes of govt mule uses these. on a side note how bout a more vintage sound like the sd phat cat pickups. there p90's in a humbucker size ive toyed with using them but never got around to it.

all these pickups mentioned are pricey by the way, lord i know.
