I messed up while painting. I accidently taped the neck pocket too much and the tape went over and stuck to the body. Now there is a part that's bare wood, while the guitar actually has primer and paint. Also, I was sanding a little, and I started to get black smudges where I sanded. I used a rougher piece of sand paper to get the marks out, then smoothed it up with something finer. I went down to the primer. I only had one coat of paint, but when I tried to repait that section. It's still lighter than the rest. Should I just repaint that part until it's close, or should I repaint everything a couple of times, then sand until everything is even?

I just bought a Washburn 7 string because it had a Floyd Rose and my Ibanez doesn't. Plus, it was $175 and brand new. You can't find an Ibanez for that. There is this little card board thing on the pot that says, "Push-pull coil tap". I pulled it and my guitar gets quiter. It has 3 pickups, hsh, and a 5 way switch. It always has two pots, volume, and the push-pull one. What's it doing?

What do I need to cut out inlays? What's a good bandsaw? I found these: 12" Bandsaw Rand Bandsaw Portable Bandsaw What about this drill press? I think I have most of the must haves except for the stuff that only applies to guitars, like fret stuff, curved sanding blocks, and nut files. -
Should I go with 2 JBs or a JB and a Custom?

I am thinking about making a guitar from scratch. My brother did it once, and it came out pretty bad. I don't like playing it at all. It cost him a bunch to make it. It was back when 7 strings just came out, so the hardware might have come down, but it was still too much for crap. How much have you spent on your completely home-made guitar?

You think I should go with the JB at the bridge and Custom at the neck, or should I go with Distortion?

Also, does the Distortion pickups sound distorted all the time, so I couldn't play clean and I wouldn't need a pedal?

Is the Distrotion better than the Invader? The 7-string pickups I found are: Seymour Duncan Invader Seymour Duncan Distortion Seymour Duncan JB Seymour Duncan Custom Dimarzio Blaze I really haven't heard of any of these.

The problem with EMG 707s is I heard they are bigger than Ibanez pickups. I don't want to route anything. I'm liking the Seymour Ducan Invaders.

My Ibanez RG7 is sucking. I don't like the sound from my pratice amp, my half stack, my friend's speakers, or my other friend's digital recorder. I have a Line6 Pod, but it's not really helping much. I'm thinking of changing the Ibanez pickups to Dimarzio. Think that would help anything?

I did Karate for 4 years. Made it to brown tip. Big waste of time. I wish I never did it. I could of spent those 4 years playing guitar, at least that would have gotten me somewhere.

Once I get someone who can do it (I found a place online said they could, so I email them the bullseye and a picture of a guitar, never heard back), Could I actually just lay the rings down and paint over them, or do I just use it as a template for tape? If I use it as a template for tape, how do I do it without taping down the template?

I was looking for a project guitar and found an ugly one with sweet hardware. I figured I could repaint it and make it pretty and the hardware new would more than half of what the guy wanted for the guitar. He was telling me about how rare it was and how you can't get them anymore. I never heard of Eagle guitars. He kept saying how he couldn't find one like it after searching for a while. I'm going to hack it up and put on my own custom head stock decal. If this guitar is actually rare, I'm going to mess it up. Should I do it?

I heard (I think from LGM) that the light color goes on first. So I paint the whole thing creme, then the circles...I need to find a good picture so I know how many circles. Also, does anyone happen to do how big the circles are?

I want a guitar like Jimmy Page, but I don't know how to wire all the push pull knobs. Anyone know or know where I can find out?

I want a bullseys guitar like Zakk Wylde. How would I paint it, so it's not all uneven and lopsided? What would I use to mask off the circles? Masking tape seems kinda hard to make a circle.

I don't have a Dremel sander, and I don't really feel like buying one. I want to scallop my neck. It's a really crappy neck, but if I do it good and I like it, I want to do it my good guitar. I don't want to buy the sander to use it twice, or should I? Is there another way of doing it without it that's easy?

I'm doing this right now. I have to wait for a StewMac order to arrive before it's complete, but I use red LEDs powered off a 9v battery. As far as I know, you have to have a battery. I use a stereo jack for the switch. As soon as I get clear epoxy and the pot to control to LEDs blinking, I'll be done.

So I should just look around locally to find good paint? I know Walmart sells the color I want, but it's a flat enamel. Is there any type of clear that would make that shinney? Also, what is the best type of paint to use, enamel, laquer, poly, or doesn't it matter as long as I use that type of clear?

I need paint. I had my guitar stripped and primed, but no paint. 1) Where should I get the paint: ReRanch (I need paint for more than one guitar, seems too expensive for mulitple guitars) Home Depot (I got most of the other stuff I needed here, but is the paint crap?) Auto Body Store (Probably the best place, but how expensive are they? These are for no name guitars) Sherwin Williams (Cheaper than an auto body store?) 2) What kind of paint should I get: Enamel (No clear coat?) Nitro Laquere (ReRanch sells it, Nitro clear?) Poly (Isn't this stuff supposed to be strong? Poly clear?) 3) I know the color I want comes in enamel, but it's not shinney. How do I make it shinney?
