    Being an auto refinisher by trade i can set u straight on this one,the blue base was painted first,ten a thin coat of a large primatic flake mixed with a see through binder was applied(only one or two light coats,which gives it a transluscent effect)and then the black burst around the edge,and finally two to three coats of clear,hope this helps.

    The horns are actually quite strong although i wouldnt want to drop it,I think some strap locks might be on the order list!but like i said its more show than go lol.

    Ok thought you guys might give me some feedback on this one,its more for show than go,its an Ibanez grg170dx. I took the blade to it and cut flames in around the horns intending to keep the well known RG outline that I love and painted her up after adding bevels.Its almost done,just waiting on a new headstock decal which will be burried in the clear on the headstock,need to track down some black knobs and paint the cavity covers and truss rod cover in matching red. Whether you guys love it or hate it feel free to let me know!.

    Just like to say thanks to Jaycee for the positive feedback,I know Im not up with the big boys as I do more aesthetic changes than complete builds from scratch.Im sure my style isnt for everyone but I am into the more metal shredder look anyway my next one is almost finished,another Ibanez this time a grg Ill upload some pics soon .

    Hi all just poppin in to introduce myself,wow what a great site,im spendin so much time on here my misses is spewin I found it!,anyway Im an automtive spray painter that enjoys customising guitars!,Im no where near the big boys as Ive never built one from scratch yet,but do intend to one day.Im in the process of finishing my latest ibanez,just got the neck to do,ill put some pics up when complete,anyway if u guys out there need any advice on paintwork,fire away ill try to give u some reasonable advice...I hope lol ,Cheers...     Hi, this is my first entry for Guitar of the Month,I call it the Retro Rocket, its a vintage Ibanez Stagestar,rebuilt for the 21st century!.Ive meticulously reshaped the body and scratch plate to suit,I tracked down an awesome USA made jackson neck, I then covered the whole lot including the origional H/S/H pups in a gorgeous coat of candy red pearl two pack.It has all origional hardwear,an Ibanez fat 6 bridge,I also added a locking nut to help it stay in tune and the chrome knobs and tuners from a later Ibanez.Hope u guys enjoy it!
