  1. I's for me. I'm getting rid of my Washburn because I don't care for a trem.
  2. I don't exactly know where to post this, so move it if it's in the wrong place. I want a Les Paul copy and have it narrowed down to the Agile AL-2000 or Kramer Standard. Anyone know much about these?
  3. Also, any brand reccomendations. And please be keep in mind I'm not able to spend $200.00 on a plane. I need a real world, practical plane and price. Thanks guys.
  4. I'm going to build a neck theough next time around, and I wnat to do it Neal Moser style, with hand planes. Anyone know if I can get away with using a 14" hand plane to joint sides flat, or do I have to go with the full blown 22" setup?
  5. Really nice designs and execution. I gotta tell you guys, I used to really hate the "metal" guitar shapes, but people around here have really done some creative, excellent work. In fact, the next guitar on my drawing board is a Rico Jr. Vixen type unit. Keep up the good work, man.
  6. That wood Scotty, oh my God, oh my God, Scotty, that wood. Oh my Godl.
  7. And a bit more carved. I'm forgoing the files in favor of a belt sander on the belly and armrest for reasons of speed and accuracy.
  8. Starting to carve the top just a bit.
  9. Dude, you 'tarded it up bigtime. Bravo!! We all do it one time or another. This will be satisfying restore for sure. And a good way to start building. Keep us posted.
  10. That's what I thought, but I couldn't find any good info. Thanks, man. I told him to forget it.
  11. Scratch em' up on the pavement and hit em with junk. Just don't wreck em. Or buy old used parts that ARE aged...
  12. God am I an amateur!! It looked fine to me until I got a look at the finished work...
  13. I'm using a zero fret and am having a helluva time getting info about string height regarding this topic. Do I have to file the other frets lower to provide proper string height, or do I have to use a taller fret? Is it all in the neck angle? Any advice will help.
  14. A guy wants to trade me is Washburn Lyon ME4 for my Wshburn MG44. I can't find too much about the ME4 and I don't want to put too much effort in t driving around if they're way mismatched. Any info?
  15. Fretboard's been fretted! Tis was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. It's a flat radius with no fret markers. I'm not lazy, it's actually what I wanted. I marked up the fretboard in a few places and this will be a bitch to level, I know, but so far I'm feeling pretty good about it.
  16. I grab it and play every night. Mostly I just noodle in front of the TV, but when I get serious I work on two things: Chord Progressions Metronome and chord progressions. And now I'm actually learning the fretboard as a pre cursor to theory. But no matter what, it's in my hands at night. So much so that I SUSPECT, only suspect, that it may be helping me develop arthritis in my left hand.
  17. Just a quick and cheap way I did it: From Tele to not Tele. Maybe it'll help someone.
  18. Next question: Will cedar work as a laminate between two pieces of cherry in a neck thru?
  19. Maybe not so much tribal as primitive. Simple shapes to take up space and look sort of relic-y. I plan to distress it just a bit as well.
  20. Have you ever used Cedar in a neck before? I'm curious to see how it performs. I have a TON of it and it'd be nice to use it in a neck laminate if I can.
  21. Thank you a housand times for the Flying V dimensions!! It came just at the right time.
  22. After a few posts for input, I've decided to make my next guitar a neck thru Flying V. I got the plans off of this site and decided to use Cherry for the neck and make Western Red Cedar wings. Since I know Cedar nicks and marks easily, I decided to try something different. I'm going to carve the wings in a rough, tribal manner and give it character. I'm knocking around ideas like this, but I'm open to suggestion. I plan to add more, but this is a start. I'm looking for simple shapes and ideas. Everything in the design will be chiseled or routed into the wood, no painted designs I will not touch wood to begin this project until the current one is finished, but I can still plan... Suggestions?
  23. Dude, leave it. A black Les Paul with gold hardware is pure cool. Plus, the binding and all will be a REAL hassle. I'm not a big fan of paint, but these are an exception.
