  1. I really love those inlays. Side and top markers all in one. Great idea. Mind if I borrow the concept for a future build?
  2. I've noticed. Those prices are ridiculous. Slightly off topic, but does anyone know where to get something similar to those stewmac fret cauls? If not I'll find a way to make my own. I'm not paying $40 for one.
  3. So true. It certainly helps to have a great community like this to go to for advice.
  4. Sounds like it's probably what I feared. Oh well. If it sounds too good to be true.. @RestorationAD: Thats a great idea. Thanks for the input.
  5. Nice find. Thanks for the input as well.
  6. I've been looking at some fretting tools around eBay for pretty low prices and was wondering if they're any good. In particular I was looking at this. It's a ret hammer, puller, and a file, for $15. The price would indicate a lack of quality, but I figured it doesn't hurt to check to see if anyone has any experience with these or similar tools. Any help is appreciated.
  7. Wow thanks! that's exactly what I've been looking for.
  8. Wow, that's beautiful. Any chance you could send me some measurements of the guitar (length, width, thickness)? I'm looking to build one of these, and while I've got some good drawings of it, they are lacking dimensions. Any help would be great. Thanks. Also, sometimes i find that scoring the paint with a razor blade or X-Acto knife around the masking tape can at least minimize the chipping.
  9. Yep, I've got it covered. That post is from June 2. Thanks though.
  10. Check out the blackstar HT line. They are super versatile and inexpensive. There are 5, 20, 40, 60, and 100 watt versions available. They have great cleans and the distortion is insane. they also have this cool little ISF feature that changes the voicing of the amp from british to american. You can blend the two for a pretty cool variety of tones.
  11. Well, it turns out that i wouldn't need to use duplicolor to get the color I want, so i'll be fine. Thanks for the input though.
  12. Would there be anything with using a reranch nitro color coat (lake placid blue metallic) with duplicolor for some pinstriping and then reranch clear or would they react poorly to each other? Thanks.
  13. I'm looking for a black limba body blank. Does anyone either have one that they'd be willing to sell, or have anywhere they'd recommend I look? I've checked out Gilmer, but they're out right now.
  14. Does anyone know where I could find some acrylic (mother of toilet seat) inlay blanks like the kind used on cheap guitars and most modern Gibsons? I would like to learn how to inlay, but I don't want to pay for expensive pearl to practice on. Thanks.
  15. Wow. Where did you get them? This project is looking great so far. I'll be really interested to see how it turns out.
  16. Yeah, If you could make good quality necks for considerably less that a place like warmoth then I may be interested and I have a feeling many others would be as well. It would also be cool if you did prefretted boards like you can get from allparts except offer them in a variety of scale lengths and fret sizes. If you could do that I would certainly be interested.
  17. Whoa. That's pretty cool looking. I like the crackle effect. Don't really know how to describe it though. Rustic maybe? Pretty awesome one way or another.
  18. I have a Dimarzio Tone Zone with a broken coil I was unable to fix (can't really re-wind PUs myself right now). Let me know if you want it via PM I'm still a new member, so I can't use the pm system. Is there any other means of contact you'd be willing to use? Thanks. Edit: Nevermind, I'm a forum regular now. PM sent.
  19. Hey all, I'm trying to learn how to wind pickups so I've been looking for some old broken pickups I could rewind to practice on. If anyone has some I'd gladly pay for them as long as the price is resonable. Drop me an e-mail if you're interested. Thanks. -Tremmy
  20. I sent you an email about the neck. Did you get it?
