  1. That would be amazing! I have what i think is the final design as a Adobe illustrator file. Is that ok? ← Yes thats perfect. I can import it right from there into solid works. ← Whats your e-mail address and ill send the Adobe File?
  2. Thats EXACTLY as i thought, i think its too much to combine 3 different guitars in just an outline. I will carve some 006 horn shaping into it.
  3. That would be amazing! I have what i think is the final design as a Adobe illustrator file. Is that ok?
  4. I like both! I am probably going to order the wood neck week and get the neck blank glued up and all planed square, then its off to actually design it! Those are both F^^%£**g Cool Designs, and i think someone else might take a shine to it, and build it also. What woods should i make up the neck with? Im gonna use an angled back Headstock 5 or 7 piece.
  5. That is awesome mledbetter, i love it. I think an iceman headstock would be very cool on that. Excellent
  6. Its nice! Maybe a bit of the bottom of the iceman in it, or the bottom horn from it. What program did you use to create this outline?
  7. Here we go, this is my first guitar i am going to build from scratch. Lot of Cash! I have a router, hand planes (cordless ) Straight edges, chisels, files, rasps Pencil etc. So i am nearly sorted. I just need wood! I generally go for fairly standard type guitars Tele, strat, rg's ETC.(i always mod them in some way) But was really inspired by toddlers68's guitar and i have always fancied a neck thru. If anyone would like to help me with the actual design a would be really honoured, the shape i have in my head is a Neck Thru Iceman/Parker Fly/006 Hybrid but thats about it. I have little experience with CAD but i would like to learn to use it to print out full body shapes in 1:1 to make templates. So what do u think?
  8. Yea thats the sort of thing i want!
  9. I was reading some of the general woodworking press we get in the UK and some of the old stanley/baileys are still considered really good. Maybe thats the route for me, ebay.co.uk has a few running at the monent........ thanks xlr8
  10. I really need to think more about this, is a low angle plane really important? I will look on ebay and see what flying around. But i really want some good hand tools rather than going down the jointer/planer route.
  11. I probably want to Spend £50 uk ($100)ish its most important job will be to sqaure up body and neck blanks, so i'm looking for something a quite hefty. What size?
  12. I'll let this one run a little! I was just curious as to how other people have done it in the past. Maybe perry will answer
  13. How does tru oil differ from normal tung oil? i have used normal tung on many maple necks and i love the way it feels after you rub 0000 over it, i have never put wax on it. I may try Briwax(softened beeswax)
  14. Right i need to get myself a plane for truing up neck blanks. What size is the best for the job and which one, Im thinking a No5.
  15. Cud, your site is amazing! Everything so clean! You should start selling those thick ply templates, awesome. i plan to transfer the my stew mac plexi guys to thick ply. You should sort out the Nav on the categories showing neck, body, finishing ,hardware and electronics make it a little easier to follow the start to the end. I will refer to your work like the bible (although i've never read the bible lol) when i make my first guitar.
  16. Whats the best way to get a small neck angle on a Neck thru Guitar? Its easy on a bolt on and a set neck, but if the neck and bridge are on the same piece of wood how is the best acheived?
  17. Hey RGGR i called the UK ibanez people and they are also out of stock so it will be just the same wait as for the holland guys. Sorry Nice piece of maple you got there.
  18. Whoa! Nothing like big shiny frets, Try this next time it doesn't take as long :File, 400 along board 600 along board 1200 along board then put some 1200 on a block and go across the board this means that any scratches will be left going across the frets making it easer to take them out using 0000 steel wool Then do your polishing with the dremel. Also after recrowning u may notice some little marks on the side of the frets i use a little beech block with a Fret crown shape made in to it using a little 1/16 round file in which i rap 1200 round and go across the frets. Awesome work all round , beauty!
  19. Cool, i will call the distributor tomorrow and if they have it in the country already then i could have it in a few days, if the dont then it will be the same sketch as you are in already.
