  1. I love that guitar I have some bat inlays that would go great on it i'll let you have them cheap.
  2. Thanks for your help that will be a little easier to install.
  3. Do you angle a wrapround bridge like a tuneomatic high e side at scale length and then low e back an 1/8 of an inch?
  4. I used regular bleach mixed with hydrogen peroxide on lacewood it worked pretty good.
  5. Is that really porous lacewood you have? I have a lacewood tiop it's not real porous I think i'm just going to dye it and tung oil it
  6. The bookmatch looks a little off. Is one of the sides wrong face up? Maybe it is just the picture. Walnut is such a nice looking wood. Peace,Rich I caught that to, I was just in a hurry to take the pics and flipped one the wrong way for the pic. But that yellow streak does actually show up on one, but not the other, it just kinda ended as I got into the thickness of the wood. It's not glued together, though, so he's free to go with his favorite sides. I just wish the reflective curls in the wood would show up on camera, they're in there. This is from my new planer, it's a Ridgid LS1300, 13" wide. I like it so far, no bad reviews from the online folks and it works great. It's a little finicky with Purpleheart, but it slices right through Walnut, Mahogany, and Limba. I'm running wood through this thing like crazy, I feel like a kid again:-) It looks good to me i'll be happy with that wood it's quiet pretty.
  7. One method i've heard of to prevent your problem is to attach 2 staples one I think where the first fret will be and the other where the 15'th will be snip off the horizontal part the connects the 2 sides that way it's like 2 pins sticking up, and then glue fretboard on no slpiipage problem then.
  8. I know mahogany needs to have the pores sealed do you have to lacquer it or can you just tung oil after dyeing or staining it?
  9. I was having problems send IM's the other day, maybe that was one of them. Anywho, it'd be around $30 for one like that. Shipping shouldn't be too much (assuming you're in the USA). Just let me know if you're interested, I'm going to buy a new planer later today, so I'm ready to make some tops I live in Muskogee, Oklahoma zip 74403 if that helps that sounds like a decent deal for that wood do you take Paypal?
  10. Hi again did you figure out a price? If it's good i'll buy from you.
  11. Actually that would be good as long as it's good and straight my body is 12 1/2 inches wide and 18 inches long.
  12. I would be interested in something maybe a half inch thick to top off a body.
  13. Thats really cool and different thats something to be proud of.
  14. What would a good color for Lace wood top be? It kind of looks like an orangish brown< i'm thinking of dying it yellow, the body is a les paul juniorish shape and I've always love those tv finish les paul juniors. I think this will look good any opinions?
  15. I like the shape of the pickguard, but me i like black and yellow, but your not trying to make me happy enjoy it and rock on.
  16. You can find fretted fingerboards on ebay. I bought and awesome fretted inlayed rosewood fingerboard made of pearl and abolone some really cool dragons.
  17. Color to stain, my figured maple Les Paul double cut i'm thinking yellow stain, seal it with tung oil and then black hardware.
  18. Retopping a Les Paul I read an interview with Billy Gibbons awhile back. He said he had a couple of Les Pauls where they steamed the top off and then routed out a bunch of wood and put the top back on. Billy Gibbons is known to tell stories it could be true I dont know
  19. That body sounds similar to what I'm building it's maple and pecan I was thinking mahogany neck rosewood fretboard. I bought some gfs p90's I'm going to put in with 250k pots and I hope there not too bright.
  20. To me make the horn longer and on the upper left side round it off.
  21. Wow you seem to know a lot about body and neck wood combinations. The guy I'm going to buy the neck from would make me a 3 piece mahogany with either rosewood or pau ferro, not a one piece neck would that be good from what your saying?
  22. I bought a Les Paul double cutaway body made out of figured maple and pecan. I was wondering what type of wood or woods to use for the neck, it will be a set neck. I'm not quiet ready to make my own neck I'm going to buy one from soul mate guitars. I'm thinking that the body of maple and pecan will be pretty bright so maybe a neck of mahogany and pau ferro laminate with pau ferro fretboard to warm it up some.
  23. ← I found that guitar heads who sells on ebay has some good stuff.
