  1. Im sorry if this thread is old and im reviving it, Ive just got a question... Where do you get the vaneer or the wood strips? Is there anywhere online I can just order them from? Thanks!
  2. Ok I got this bass from this kid for 40 bucks and was gunna shine it up and make it look new then resell it for 80 bucks to another kid (good deal eh?) I took it all apart and rewired it, go the electronics working, used some murpheys on the neck make it look all pretty, then the final step buffing and waxing out the scratches. When I finished waxing it, i picked it up with two cloths as to not get any fingerprints on it, and being stupid, i picked it up near the bottom, and as soon as i put enough pressure on it, off it went. It flung out of my hands and bounced a few times on the pavement. Lucky me, now I get to sand it all down, and repaint it. I did just get a new airbrush that ive been wanting to test out though. To make this thread more useful, post some ideas for me to paint it. Im not very skilled yet, but I want to try something (if you guys know smashnmash from the ultimate-guitar boards) with masking tape and an x-acto. Its a silvertone normal p-bass. http://images.misupply.com/products/full/S...rtone/b11lh.jpg ^ That one.
  3. Hey one of my guitars pickups are really weak and buzzy, i heared that you can strenthen the pickups somehow by putting more wire on or something. Anybody heared of this?
  4. ok, I was on these boards a while ago and I saw some sort of flat piece of wood used to put into frets to make a fretted bass fretless. Ive already done a few searches on it and I couldnt find this old topic, could anybody help me with this? Thanks in advance
  5. *drumroll* I am proud to announce... my kawai guitar now offically plays. Im so proud of myself, I just got the strings on a few minutes ago, and its still falling out of tune, but at least im making a noise with it.
  6. UPDATE! Guitars goin good, new pickups and tuners, electronics done and my new bridge and tailpiece are on the way. I ended up buying a bronse gibson-like floating tailpiece and bridge, and when theyre here, Ill just string it up and it should be ready to play. Naturally the photogenic boy I am, I got some pics. As youll see, the new pickups really make the guitar look new. PICTURE POSTING RULES NOT FOLLOWED.
  7. haha its unclej! reconize me? Its my archtop, from the acoustic board. Your probably right, Ill just have to drill some new holes.
  8. Very vague title, I know. Ill explain. I ordered new pickups for a archtop guitar, the guitar is pretty beat up, everything works as plan, accept the screws down line up right. Im afraid to drill new holes in it because of cracking. What I was thinking was, could I aucually glue the pickups to the body? I was thinking about glueing some dummy screwheads into the holes just for decoration. Any input will help, even if its to say hi. Thanks
  9. Its been a while so I thought Id update you guys. The body work is completed, I ordered some pickups on ebay and theyre on theyre way. Once they arrive, Im hoping to get the electronics done, then all I need is a bridge and tremolo. Its looking good tho.
  10. haha... Australian Dirt is Ac/dc's "Have a Drink On Me." The intro to it.
  11. Couldnt have asked for a better answer. Thank you, that helps ALOT.
  12. It may be kawai. My thought is theres an independent guitar manufacturer. Im looking at bigsby tremolos, thats what Im hoping to put on it. I have a piece of the tailpiece and its just a plain rusted piece of metal, most likey used for a cover. My two ideas are: 1: Buy a tremolo and a bridge, and raise the strings high enough with the bridge to match the neck. 2: Cut the neck where it connects to the body low enough that the tremolo matches up with it, and suck the pickups into the body accordingly. Im thinking 2 might be cheaper and 1 may be easier, and I have a nack for distroying projects. Ill just be sure to do alot of measurments when I find a cheap enough tremolo, till then Im still trying to refret it, or find somewhere to do it for me. School is in 6 hours so I should get to bed.
