  3. Ok heres a couple of pictures. All I can see inside it is one block under the bridge the rest looks to be hollow you can see the kerfing in the one picture also. I think its made out of wood maybe pine its real light. I guess Ill see when I get it sanded down.
  4. I used a natural stain and dutch boy lacquer, <rattle cans>. I was going to use black stain so I did some test pieces with a few different stains but the black just didn't look right. when I set them side by side the natural won. Jay
  5. Yes its compleatly hollow. Ill post some pictures next weekend, I work 14 hr days this week Jay
  6. Thats the one. Its not that great of shape though. Its been repainted, pretty bad job too. I think just being repainted drops the value quite a bit. I thought it would be a good project to fix up though.
  7. Does anyone have any idea what brand this is? I'm thinking maybe Wards or sears. I bought this at a garage sale a few years ago for $20 the guy said its from the 40s or 50s. Its been painted and has a neck the size of a baseball bat plus the finger board looks like it was fine sanded with 60 grit. Its a hollow body with some kind of single coils,I thought it was kind of cool, I was thinking of stripping it and building a new neck for it and update the tuners and electronics. I might keep the pickups it has a pretty cool bluesy sound to it. Jay
  8. Thanks man. I like the flame to. I was kind of surprised to find ash that had a little flame to it. You couldn't see it untill we ran it through the planer. I was also worried that the northern ash would be too bright or harsh sounding but it isnt. It also plays very nice. Jay
  9. Body/northern black ash Neck/maple&walnut Inlays/mammoth ivory Duncan pickups/ distortion bridge-coil tapped/neck 59 many thanks to PG and to all those helped with my many questions. and my father inlaw for letting me raid his stash of wood. hope this picture works, its the first time I tryed to post a photo. comments welcome.
  10. Sounds like good advise I think I'll cancel my order tomorow and order somthing from musicians friend. Iv'e never had a problem with them and stuff gets here quick. Thanks Jay
  11. I guess there trying to verify everything by phone now. If this goes through it will be a sweet deal. 18 watt Budda super drive for $900.
  12. There saying it dosn't match my billing address and it does . I have given it to them 2 times over the phone and 2 times through Email. The credit card company has never missed sending me a bill yet,you can set your watch by them.
  13. Has anyone ordered anything from music123.com? Did you have any problems with there service? I ordered an amp from them last week and all I seem to get from them is the runaround. They keep telling the address on my credit card dosn't match, but the credit card company says it does. It makes me wonder if they even have the amp I ordered in stock. Jay

    New Amp

Last night I ordered a new Budda super drive 18 . Now I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas. I can't hardly wait to plug my guitar into it. I love that Budda overdrive sound. Jay
  15. I think an amp tutorial would be interesting. Maybe somthing simple like a "5 watt 1 channel amp" something for a beginer to get there feet wet with. Jay
  16. I checked all my wiring 10 times, tested the resistance of the pickup, everything checked out. It really had me pulling my hair out. Turns out it was a bad volume pot. I guess I should have tested them all first but they were all brand new. I'll know better next time. Thanks alot for all the help. Jay
  17. I hooked this all up and now I have very little volume on the neck pickup in both the neck position and middle position of the switch. Could the pickups be out of phase? Jay
  18. Thank you very much!!!! I hope to be playing this thing by next weekend. Iv'e been working on it since July. Jay
  19. Sorry I forgot to mention the 3 way switch. Does it matter which side of the 6 lugs I solder the white and red wires to on the push pull switch ?
  20. Hi I need to find a wiring diagram I can read. Im dumb about wiring . I have 2 Duncan humbuckers one is a 4 wire and the other is a single wire.I want to coil tap the 4 wire pickup with a push pull tone switch.and run the single wire pickup as a standerd humbucker. 2- volumes 2- tones ( 1 is push pull switch ) 1- Duncan 59 1- Duncan distortion 1- 3 way lp style switch I can't seem to find a (simple) diagram that covers this configuration. Can anyone help point me to a simple wiring diagram. Thanks Jay
  21. The laney vc 15 sounds interesting. I was looking at one at music123.com not a bad price either. I read somwhere that the vox amps are made in China now, kinda makes me wonder about the quality. There is also an Orange dealer not to far from me,have to check out what they have. A friend of mine had a Orange amp a few years back that sounded amazing. I don't know about a bad cat or carvin those are alot more cash and I still have to convince my wife that a new lower volume amp is in her best interest too. jay66
  22. Hi I'm thinking of buying a new tube amp, somthing with fairly low wattage that I can get some good crunch out it of with out pealing the paint off the neibors house and also some good clean tones I have a few in mind and was wondering if anyone has played any of these, and what they thought of them. Budda super drive 18 Vox AC 30 custom classic or AC 15 Orange rocker 30 Traynor ycv20wr jay66
  23. I used the duel action From Grizzly Industrial in the project I'm working on now. They are shallower than stew macs Hot rod, for a thinner neck and also are covered to keep glue out of the threads. Jay
  24. What has worked well for me is to use a bolt, turn it all the way in, clamp the bolt head down in my vise and gently tap the guitar body with my hand. They come right out. Jay
  25. Thank you, I will draw everything out full scale.I also just stumbled across a web site that showed how one is put together, its alot simpler than I thought. most everything I could find on the subject before showed only how to build a bolt on neck guitar. Thanks again jay66
