i knew about the tutorials, already and im pretty good with wood working, so the conversion shouldnt be to damn hard, i just need to know what ibanez to get.

im going to make a replica of steve vai's FLO or EVO, now i dont have the money for a jem so i need to know what rg series has a edge tremolo, also how difficult is it to do the monkey grip/lions claw on this guitar on a scale of 1 to 10?

it has a set maple neck,22 jumbo frets, rosewood fretboard, grover style tuners, a tune-o-matic style bridge and a pair of emgs (81-bridge/60-neck) im asking 350 for it or i am looking for a rg series ibanez with a edge trem and hum-sing-hum/24 fret neck goth_fiend2003@yahoo.com if anybodies is intrested.

your setup should do fine, in fact i wish i had your setup!(but add on a 2x15 cab) i second the bar magnet pickups though, pole pieces might pose a problem since i know of nobody making 8 string pole pieced pickups

jammy, how much is that 8 gonna cost ya? also does hipshot use a custom locking nut or just locking tuners?

im not sure if they can do it, but there is a russian guitar company by the name of shamray that do full custom guitars, one of there workers posts on guitar.com, you could ask if they would be willing to machine you an 8-string trem, that being said, your definatly not going to be able to fit 8 strings in the space of a 7-string neck since the 8th string is a bass string (also you had better be using 2 truss rods, just a heads up for the future) good luck on it though dude! also unless your going to be using a 'blade' type of pickup up i dont think you will be able to use 7 string pups, shamray also does custom pickups, but like i said there in russia, i would suggest going to guitar.com and making a post addressed to rockandroller since he would know more about the custom shop then i do, i plan on ordering a custom neck from them soon but there a bit backed up and its about a 6 month wait right now.

well i am starting it in july, getting a carvin neck thru blank and putting either alder or basswood wings on it. i already have the original version at full scale drawing (1:1) so its not going to be a problem to redesign it to the new version.

you might want to put in a dab of silicon in the channel before you install the rod, just so i doesnt rattle at all

what about different headstocks? my custom annihilator (which still needs to be beveled and routed for everything) needs a neck and i have a 'spike' style headstock for it, could you do that and what would be the increase/decrease in cost?

ive got two bodies here beggin for necks, i need prices too!

not sure, but the body has a lot of chips and dings in it, so thats why its so cheap

so im thinkin of going with the rg570 i found, would it be worth it for 250?

ive heard a lot of stories about the chromeboys finish coming off so i think i will do that material finish!

if thats the case i might go with the steve vai chrome jem guitar, and drop-top a mirrored acrylic sheet on top of the guitar
