  1. Ok problem solved sometimes it's best to go for the obvious. I went to radio shack. The service ther is somewhat incompetent. I told them I needed a jack for my guitar and said headphones would for it. He pulled out a drawer and showed me what was tiny one that you use a walk man. I asked if they had any bigger and he said no that's it and they couldn't order one for me. I opened the next drawer above it wholla there's the right sized jack. I went back home removed the crap one and installed the new. Problem solved no more shorting out.
  2. Wow what kind of guitar is that? Did you make it yourself? It's really bizarre looking. Wood looks nice.
  3. Yeah did that serveral months back. It looked like everything was in place. Going to have to open it up tonite there maybe a bad connection due to dull solder. Ok heres a bad pic: The problem is running from the switches to the voume pots through the thick black wires. Every thing is connected. I have to shake the wires to get sound on and its cutting out.
  4. The cables are fine running through other guitars. This guitar is problem got shake the pick guard to get sound and still cuts out. There is like a stiff wire for ground. Not sure it maybe input jack near death or maybe wiring to jack not right. Anybody have past experience with front routed guitar problem of this sort?
  5. Thanks for the feed back. I didn't think it would be a good combo. All I got is lacky so my friend is just going have to buy a can of poly.
  6. On another project will laquer clear coat work over a previously well hardened poly clear coat?
  7. Sorry, but I'm just spraying the front and not above, sides and edges of the headstock. So will blush eraser be the best route to clearing up the white chalky over spray?
  8. Need more info Does the clearcoat have a cloudy appearance within it or does it have a sandpapery feel and some rubs off when touched? A little more info needed on how the topcoat was applied, by spraycan or gun If by gun what air pressure and thinning ratio? I'm not familiar with the products you mentioned but heres a bit of advice anyway If you live in an area of high humidity, or you painted on a day of extreme high humidity, it could cause a cloudy effect in your finish (moisture trapped within the paint) To relieve this try either heating up the spray area (room) PRIOR to painting or buy some retarder thinners to add to your paint mix prior to coating If its the sandpaper effect try lowering your air pressure and and adjusting your fan width (slightly narrower) and recheck the solvent to clearcoat mix ratio (maybe add a little more solvent, but watch for runs and sags) If done by spraycan warm up spraying area and experiment with your technique a little more Get back to me if you have anything to add dayvo ← I used Watco gloss laquer clear coat on the front of the headstock. It's a areosol spray can. There is no cloudy appearance trapped underneath the finish on the front of headstock. The top and sides and edges would be sandpapery feel and kind of rubs off when touched. It's probably the clearcoat overspray turning white when it dries is my guess.
  9. Recorded Version The Jimi Hendrix Concerts: Authoritative transcriptions for guitar, bass and drums with detailed players' notes and photographs for each composition. This thing is huge over 300+ pages. It goest for $24.99. There is a bent crease on back of cover otherwise in great shape. It's probably gonna cost me $7 to ship. So with shipping and handling a totall of $15 I'll throw a free skinny book cause it wont add to price of shipping. It's called "Beginning Rock Guitar For Kids" pretty neat book for kids it's got scales, power chords ect..
  10. I have Beatles 1962-1966 and 1967-1970 guitar recorded versions for sale. These go for $24.99 a piece. I'll let them go for $8.00 each or $15.00 for both. Shipping in handling free to the lower 48. If you live in the duluth/superior area you can pick it up for $5 a piece.
  11. I clear coated the front of a headstock with laquer. The top, sides and edges are like chalky white. Probably a little over spray residue. I tried using naptha on it and it made more white. Then I wet sanded with water and it took some of the white of but doesn't seem to take it all off. Will Blush Erasure remedy this dilema?
  12. Well I got pretty impatient and and did some wet sanding hardcore Saturday night. The only problem was I had drank 12 ales and got over zealous clear coating. The headstock caught a bad case of runs, so more sanding Sunday. Resprayed it's much smoother now. The only problem now is a 2 or 3 hairline cracks or scratches. How do I get rid of them? The drop fill is the same as the spray.
  13. My first drop fill with small paint brush worked. My second drop fill in a different area on headstock flopped. I treid filling in a couple of shallow dips in the headstock finish probably a inch long each. The result was horrendous puffy cracky. I wet sand with block. Resprayed but the fills didn't melt in finish. I wetsanded and resprayed again and it looks worse then before drop filling. What's the best way to resolve this delemma?
  14. Ok thanks for the tip. I will drop dish soap in a squirt bottle and fill it up with cold water. Spray it on the headstock so I can slide the vinyl decal not water slide decal, and tape it where I want it, squeegee. Wholla perfectly aligned vinyl decal on my headstock right?
  15. Are you sure that is going to work with a vinyl decal?
  16. If you haven't laquered over it yet, peel away at it with your finger nail. If it breaks up, use a hairdryer NOT A HEAT GUN) to gently warm it and soften the glue. When the vinyl os gone, there may be some glue residue. If there is, put some white spirit or meths on it and give it afew sec to soak - the glue will turn to snot and will be removable with a clean rag. If there's any left then, just repeat. BTW I know this as I'm a sign writer - I do this daily and it's the best way to remove WITHOUT surface damage. ← White spirit or meths? Is that Naptha? The hair dryer and finger nail worked thanks. I used a needle nose to pull it off. I used Endodust and a rag to buff off the goo. Unfortunately there is a small nick in the finish from my thumb nail at the prying point. Been block sanding wet but it doesn't seem to be leveling it out. Just did a drop fill hopefully that will solve it.
  17. I put on this vinyl decal on my headstock. Unfortunately it was off center to left by about a quarter of a inch. What is the safest way to remove it without messing up the laquer finish underneath the decal?
