  1. So you are now also going to grace the land of the rising sun with one of your creations, that's awesome. This bass looks really great. Dare I ask for soundclips? You're not going to keep this thing for another week saying it isn't done yet, must be a great player by the looks of it.
  2. I'm pretty sure thats long enough. About where to place it you might want to try putting it under the fretboard Just kidding. It depends on wether you want the adjustment part at the headstock or at the body side. Matter of preference really.
  3. We loosely based it on the Fodara Emporer 1, but the lower hor does sort of look alike. Nice top on the one..
  4. That looks pretty cool. Funny, I'm also working on my first project which is also neckthru, zebra wings, two octave range and am also using Gotoh tuners. What a coincidence. That is some nice zebra you have there buddy.
  5. Here's another update. -glued wings on -rounded edges off -shaped most of the neck -shaped the arm and body contours So here are some new pics. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n191/Ne...pe/DSCF1342.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n191/Ne...pe/DSCF1347.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n191/Ne...pe/DSCF1344.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n191/Ne...pe/DSCF1346.jpg So what do guys think of our little prototype?
  6. to ProjectGuitar. Good to see you on here as well as ETSG. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as I am.
  7. Oh, there are more people using chuffed than you might think at first. This one of the best unique strat-based guitar I've seen. You can be very proud of this one.
  8. Thanks. The grunge is good, at least the bass is being played like it should.
  9. If you don't mind me asking, do you know what pickups the Geddy Lee bass has in it? Thanks
  10. Really? I have only seen that one YYZ video, and if I remember correctly he played over the bridge pickup. Of course I could be mistaken. Playing close to the bridge does make it easier to playing faster, for some of those Harris-songs.
  11. No need to rush anything is there. Not the biggest fan of that bodyshape, but it would look really good with that inlay I imagine. Be sure to buy a jacket like Halford to go with the axe though Plus the pants of course
  12. That is really cool, even if it were your 20th inlay!! So what style body are you thinking of?
  13. I really like how the 'grain' of the carbon goes in opposite ways going from body to fretboard to headstock. Gives it just the contrast it needs in my opinion. That's definatly a pretty damn wild guitar. It's just that the thread title should have said: And now for something completely different. 'cause this isn't a little different anymore.
  14. Not a big fan of the monkey grip either. And are the two way swithces just on and off controls? If so, you could look into using push-pull pots to give it a sleeker look, although I quite like having a bunch of switches, means people won't want to pick up your guitar to play because they don't understand it all.
  15. I'm with RobG on this one. A P-J combo might be the way to go. I have the same on my bass and I can get a wide variety of tones out of it. The Geddy Lee Signature Jazz Bass has something like vintage spec J-bass pups in it IIRC. And if this is the tone you're after definatly shy away from using a pick, just keep on fingerpickin' close to the bridge.
  16. Learning to play with fingers is worth all the trouble it will cause at first for tone. First of all, what is the sound you're aiming for? Any particular bassist's sound you have in mind?
  17. Or some of the old Kiwi shoe pollish, that usually does the trick.
  18. Apparantly before I got it the previous owner took out the input, but instead of just screwing it out he decided to saw off part of the pickguard. And me being cheap I just shaped a piece of plastic, covered it in leather and put it on there.
  19. The guy you sold it to did a good job on this one, I like it. That's a very good looking body too.
  20. Those sure are some great looking inlays you've got there. What materials did you use?
  21. You could stain it and sand back to have the quilt pop out more. Have you got any pics of your previous build?
