yes it is a UV 90th That has been confirmed by Mikey (vai.com webmaster) who is in the process of taking pictures of all the guitars. Check out the green strat with monkey grip too Cheers Simon

I would go towards the horns so the wood grain run along to the tips of the horns. But I would try to see if the other way looked cool too!
