  1. Hellow I am wanting to uprgade to a spraygun setup I have a compressor and everything but I am needing a new gun I am thinking of maybe a sata minijet but am not sure I am just looking for some advice on the subject I know I want something gravity feed, small and maneuverable and I am not sure about hvlp because I am mainly using it for nitrocellulose clear laquer and maybe sand and sealer and possibly the occasional dye for a sunburst the only thing is I am hesitant because I remeber somebody saying that hvlp doesn't work well for clear.

  10. Hey dude I don't know but what I would do is take a standard black or a opaque black and just thin it dow so much that it becomes a translucent jut test on a scrap piece of wood until you like what you see as long as your not doing a sunburst you should be able to just brush it on with no problems.
  11. Thanks man I just had know idea what to charge.

  19. hi everyone 2 questions I am thinking of having ed roman install a floyd rose on a guitar for me and first thing is on the locking nut I don't want it to be drilled all the way through the back of the neck I want it like those dean dimebag models so do I need to buy a special kind of nut to do so. 2 ed roman sells floyds and the information says that there original does this mean there from the early eighties or there just new floyds made to original specs.
  20. Hey man I am no expert but unless the body has ben stained previosly it shouldn't need bleeching but I have done a few sunbursts but the best advice I can give you is go to reranch and read the article on sunbursts they have one for gibson style and fender style and if your looking for the stain they have that to.
  21. Ok guys I got a dude wanting his guitar painted flat black so to do that do I just follow the normal steps and instead a glossy clear I use satin.
  22. Hello everyone this guy I know is wanting me to refinish his jackson black he beleives it is laquer and my question is it absolutely necesary to strip off the whole finish or can I just schuff it up a bit then put some primer on it and go from there because I have never stripped off a finish and since its my friend I really don't want to screw this up not to mention I am not makeing hardly anything off it.
  23. Did you use the laquer from reranch or did you buy it somewhere else. All the different companies have differing amounts of thinner and solids. If reranch says that two cans is enough when using their product, then that should be fine. But if you are using someone elses you may need a little more or a lot more depending on the brand. It also depends how heavy you lay your coats. Like previously said, 9 coats from 1-1/2 cans is laying it on pretty thin. How many passes are you making per coat? What grit are you sanding with and how often are you sanding? How hard are you sanding? Is it a level sanding or just a very light scuff sanding? Yah I am using there laquer and am doing as they sugestesed using 3 passes for one coat and I am sanding with 2000 grit sandpaper I don't know how I can be burning through.
  24. I followed the the steps from reranch and he said that 2 cans were plenty for a body and neck.
  25. ok guys I have ben finishing a tele butterscotch since it seem like forever I have done 9 coats of laquer and gone through a can and and a half of it and I am still having sand throughs not just on the edges but all over the damn thing I keep having to respay and fix it and every time I try to sand it so you can see the grain the spot just keeps getting bigger and itn looks like helkl what am I doing wrong and how can I prevent this in the future.
