  1. his original neck was replace because of the frets in around 86-87 time
  2. your right the neck in the photo isnt the original its Reds, this happened shortly before he died. I know that it was Red because you'll notice that around the time he changed the neck on his #1 Red got the reverse headstock neck. I've heard that he was thinking about buying a aftermarket neck, but I never heard that he ever did. Maybe he swaped the neck with scotch after the red neck?
  3. Actually in 89' he wasn't going to replace the neck because of the frets it was because a piece of lighting from one of the shows fell on the guitar and broke the neck. http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c25/Cole_01/3.jpg Actual neck, check it out.
  4. Ya thats must have been right around the time he replaced the neck, I figure somewhere around 86' and thats in the beginning of 87' so I was close.
  5. Thank you, I make sure I know what I'm doing(cus with eveything else other than my guitars i dont)
  6. GHS Nickel Rockers 11, 15, 19, 28, 38,58
  7. 93702 it was 62', fender said it was all stock except for the sheilding
  8. I get alot of people telling me I don't have the right letters on the pickguard and I do. These are actually what he had on his strat last. In 1990 he played on the tonight show, he was showing his sig. strat but it didnt have the decal on the pickguard so the tonight shows graphic department made some for him and stevie love them and used them until he died. Thats why the sig. strats pickguard has them engraved in the pickguard. As for the tuners, Wanna know alittle secret. Not many people know this but the tuners that are on the tribute strat are actually Fender Elite gold tuners they were only made in the igloo shape 1983 than after the made them square. As for stevie he only used them in 1986( you can see this on his appearence on saturday night live) soon after he put these on #1's neck was unusable due too its many fret jobs. When he put the neck of Red on #1 he left the elite tuners on the original neck, than when he died Rene(stevies guitar tech) put the original neck back on and gave it to Jimmy(stevies brother). or atleast thats my theory I've done alot of research on Stevies guitar, my guitars are the real deal and I hope this can clear anything anyone has questions on.
  9. I've been thinking of getting a brass nut for my strat and I found this on ebay http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c25/Cole_01/1.jpg ...I was just wondering, wouldn't this create really bad buzzing? and one more question, how good is pre-ban ivory for nuts I've heard good but any body know anything about it?
  10. heres an idea, you could find some nice wood and make trim for around the butt of the neck. So it looks like you tried to spiff it up and nobody will think of it as being a piece to cover anything up. http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c25/Cole_01/untitled.jpg check out the pic, i kinda marked it out
  11. what that is is the natural color because when he played behind his head and back he hit that part of the guitar scraping away the top layers of paint, sweat, dirt, and wood.
  12. 14. I know what your thinking OH NO not another SRV replica, but I figured I'd share it anyhow. I'm a huge Stevie fan and I love making guitars and I decided to make a SRV strat and see how I'd do. Tell me what you think, this is my first SRV strat just to let you know where I'm coming from http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c25/Cole_01/94.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c25/Cole_01/91.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c25/Cole_01/Ebay165.jpg ...if anybodys intrested in a strat of any kind I'd love to make one for ya, I'm just tryin to find a excuse to build another guitar.
  15. how bout this one http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c25/Cole_01/94.jpg this is my latest guitar. I make guitars as a hobby and my latest was this SRV, with all the guitars on ebay I figured I'd see how hard it was and if people really tried that hard at making them.
