Thanks.I sold the SVT and now play through a Genz-Benz Shuttle 6.0 and Epifani 3x10.
Nice. I play through a silverface Bassman. Not exactly hi-fi bass LOL!
That Bassman was my first bass amp,I got back in 1979 for $200.00.
I left it in a apartment when I moved. :D
The SVT was too heavy for me.Loved the tone and power though.
-
I drilled where the two volumes and Master Tone Pots go.Also included is the Macassar Ebony fingerboard and the Bridge pieces.Lightly rubbed with Tru-Oil
-
Beautiful work on both of those!!! You must get thumpin' with that ampeg!

The artwork is a representation of the Great World Snake (or Ouroboros), which represents the infinite life/death cycle.
WOW! Thats quite a bit of work there.
Ouroboros also represented in the shape of The Milky-Way Galaxy Demonic Roswell connection

Nice to see you back, good luck with the build!
Thanx Drak
You are `The Man`

Wow, that is going to be one colorful bass! I'm looking forward to it, I hope the orange/purple/yellow/brown mix well together Any other specs aside from it being a neckthrough?
I will make it the same shape as my last bass.
I may make the Top all Padauk, and you just see the neck lams from the back.I havn`t decided yet ,but the Padauk has some cool burl type figuring in two different spots which are so similar they will look bookmatched.
-
It will be a neck-thru
NECK: purpleheart/pau amarillo/wenge/pau amarillo/purpleheart
BODY:pau amarillo with figured Padauk Top

Try capo'ing a longer scale instrument like a 35" scale bass at the 3rd fret. The D string is about a gauge 0.070 on a "standard gauge" set, which is what I would call pretty heavy for an F# on a 30" scale instrument. Fret distance will be roughly the same also. Suck it and see.
Does this work on 34" also, like if the F# was the nut .Could you just cut at the second fret, does it become a 30 3/8" scale bass???

It`s wired up and sounds and plays great.
I`ve got a Tun-o-matic bridge
and a Tru-oil finish
Bartolini with a pre-amp.
The other oval piece of cocobola in the next picture is my truss rod cover.

What tool would anyone recommend for nipping stainless steel fret ends?
You can use end cutting pliers or nippers and grind them more flush.Nip the wire then file and sand.
-
Radius the board and then cut the slots deeper. After you fret it and sand the edges you can fill the slots on the side with a drop of CA glue with wood dust and sand it flush.

BEAUTIFUL!!!

Gorgeous!
