    Yes, atmospheric is roughly 14.7 (I have to work with digital pressure gauges all the time at work). My wife just bought some of those space bags not too long ago, and I helped her load up the last one. I'm thinking it MAY be enough to do the job. I wanted to do a similar , so I MAY have to swipe one of her space bags and try. hehe.

    Wow! SUPER-NICE job, thus far! Can't wait to see the final product. Hey, out of curiosity, what kind of materials are you using, and what paints?

    To get the last body face nice and even, I used several full pages of sandpaper, carpet-taped, the entire length, to a large piece of plate glass (Actually it was a glass chessboard), and it came out quite well.

    Anybody else try the Minwax Wipe-On Poly? I ised it on my latest neck, and was rather happy with the results, so far.

    You mean a bradpoint? Always a good idea to use. I usually cover the area with a layer of masking tape, to help prevent chipping.

    Is the solid black still there, in the dent? I've done similar jobs, and so long as you level it, properly, afterwards, so as to blend it into the original finish, I'd say it should come out, fine. I'd be interested if someone else has had experiences telling otherwise.

    Hey, not your fault. You just asked a question, and I just tried to help out. It was the attitude that I got that I didn't appreciate. I don't respond well to smugness.

    Talk about a bunch of haters. Sheesh. Have I painted a guitar using bedliner? No. Have I painted a guitar, whereas it affected the tone? Yes. Have I painted a bedliner with that stuff? Yes. And I know that the stuff is dense, and deadens noise. Why? Because if it's density and consistency. It cut down on the VIBRATIONS. And that's what it's gonna do to a guitar. Someone painted a pedalboard with it, and liked it: Great. You don't count on the tonal resonance of your pedalboard, for your sound. Hey, if he wants to try it, let him try it. Hell, why don't you guys try it. I was trying to help the guy out, and you jump on ME with such attitudes? So WHAT if I haven't painted a guitar with it. I know what the properties of the stuff are, and it's not what I would want on my guitar. Maybe YOU do.

    Dude, the TONE is affected my the sum of all parts, and not just what pickups you have in it. That's why we have TONEWOODS. Trust me, it's not some b.s. story or conspiracy to jack the price of certain woods up, and doing that WILL kill his tone on that guitar. Don't believe me? Try it. You'll see what I'm talking about.

    Hmm. Well, I actually planned on using Binz primer/sealer, which IS shellac-based, woth a white tint, since I'm going from a red finish to a lime green finish (working on a Green Meanie project). That way, I would have a nice white base, which to apply the color coat, without having the red bleeding through. I figured the adhesion promoter, whould help the new finish adhere, better.

    I'm considering trying my hand at a refret job on one or more guitar necks I currently own, and one thing I always hear is that it's a good idea, to help avoid fret-end pop-up, is to over-bend the frets. Well, my question is: By how much? Nobody (far as I can tell) ever tells you THAT. Say I have a neck with a 12" radius. Should I be overbending at 10"? If you over-bend too much, doesn't the fret stand a chance of popping, in the center? Just want to be clear in this, before I dive in, headfirst.

    Would shooting a dust coat or two of an adhesion promoter, prior to shooting the primer, aid in the adhesion process. I have similar projects coming up, and I sometimes use Bulldog Adhesion Promoter, to blacken chrome neckplates and the like, and was wondering if it would be beneficial, in this case.

    I'm not insinuating that you do a seatbelt strap, based on Steve Vai's preference. I was merely counterpointing your opinion that it's cheesy. I just happen to think the opposite. Relax.

    Yeah, I pretty much new where your story was heading, even before I got to the end. I've heard similar horror stories from Duplicolor users. I've never touched the stuff, but feel I don't have to. If I can, I try to learn from others' mistakes, so I can save myself a bit of headache. Sorry to hear about your experience.

    I've hard nothing but bad about Duplicolor. Apparently it's VERY soft, and takes forever and a day to dry.

    Try telling that to Dimarzio. They've been making buck off seatbelt-fabric straps for years. Pleayers like Vai seem to like them.
